The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts. Shares of international shipping company Frontline ($FRO) were down 6% on Wednesday afternoon after the company's third-quarter earnings missed Wall Street estimates, bringing down retail sentiment. Earnings per share came in at $0.27, below consensus estimates of $0.36, according to Stocktwits data. However, its revenues stood at $490.32 million, above the expected estimates of $309 million quoted by analysts. For the third quarter, the company declared a cash dividend of $0.34 per share for the third quarter of 2024. We continue to sail in a troubled geopolitical landscape and with lower year-on-year demand in Asia, and especially China, the tanker markets have yet to experience the seasonal upswing into winter," Lars H. Barstad, CEO of Frontline, said in a statement.&nbsp; "The increase in sanctioned oil trade and movement of illicit barrels have negatively impacted our trade environment. However, global oil demand is still growing, and with limited new tanker capacity coming, Frontline continues to profit as we run our cost-efficient operation and modern fleet. It will be interesting to see how the tanker market, including the trade of oil and energy, is impacted by politics as we approach 2025," Barstad added. In the third quarter, the company also sold its oldest Suezmax tanker for $48.5 million, generating net cash proceeds of $36.5 million after repayment of existing debt. It also entered into a sale-and-leaseback agreement of up to $512.1 million to refinance 10 Suezmax tankers. That refinancing is expected to generate net cash proceeds of about $101.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2024, the company statement added. Shares of international shipping company Frontline ($FRO) were down more than 5% on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the company’s third-quarter earnings, but retail sentiment inched up.Wall Street analysts expect Frontline to announce earnings per share (EPS) of $0.36 per share on revenues of $309.1 million. The company is set to announce results on Wednesday. The company has beaten EPS estimates thrice out of its last four earnings quarters.For its second quarter, Frontline’s EPS came in at $0.84, which beat consensus estimates. Its revenues of $357.6 million were below analyst estimates.Retail sentiment on the stock improved to ‘neutral’ (47/100) from ‘bearish’ (42/100) a day ago. This allowed them to capitalize on elevated freight rates. &nbsp;He also anticipates stronger performance in the second half of 2024 due to continued supply disruptions caused by the Red Sea crisis, coupled with favorable demand trends.Missile and drone attacks in the Red Sea have forced many shipping companies to reroute vessels, impacting overall supply chains. &nbsp;Zim's Q2 revenue rose to $1.93 billion from $1.31 billion a year ago, primarily driven by higher freight rates and increased cargo volume.Carried volume rose by 11% year-over-year to 952 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), while the average freight rate per TEU jumped by 40% to $1,674.Year-to-date, ZIM stock has gained an impressive 70%.
