10,000 jobs! Odisha govt clears Rs 4,510 crore worth of investment projects
The Odisha government has approved 23 new industrial projects with a combined investment of about Rs 4,510 crore, a move expected to generate more than 10,000 employment opportunities across the state. The approvals were granted during the 145th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg. The projects are part of the state’s push to accelerate industrialisation and strengthen its role in the Centre’s Purvodaya vision aimed at boosting economic growth in eastern India. According to officials, the projects will create around 10,122 jobs and will be implemented across 11 districts, including Balasore, Bolangir, Cuttack , Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundargarh. The approved investments span multiple sectors such as wood-based industries, chemicals, apparel and textiles, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, aluminium and steel downstream industries, electrical equipment, food processing, IT and tourism.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday informed that Mission Shakti will be given a new identity, including a change in the dress code for its members. According to the Deputy Chief Minister , the new dress code will come into effect from Utkal Divas , marking a fresh beginning for the flagship women empowerment initiative. The move is expected to bring greater uniformity, recognition, and a renewed sense of pride among Mission Shakti members. In another significant announcement, Pravati Parida said that Mission Shakti women will be provided with smartphones along with official ID cards. The initiative aims to strengthen digital connectivity, ease of communication, and access to government services for women associated with Mission Shakti groups. Textile mills to come up in cotton-producing districts of Odisha: CM Mohan Majhi
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced that textile mills will be set up in cotton-producing regions of Odisha , with special focus on western districts where large volumes of cotton are cultivated. The Chief Minister made the statement during his visit to Sonepur. Addressing a press conference, CM Mohan Majhi outlined key provisions of the state budget and spoke about new schemes and development projects. Responding to media queries, he assured that districts with high cotton production would be prioritised for textile-based industrial development. Large quantities of cotton, amounting to lakhs of quintals, are produced annually in districts such as Bolangir , Sonepur and Kalahandi . However, due to the absence of textile mills, cotton from these regions is currently transported to other states for processing, a long-standing issue raised by farmers and local stakeholders. Emphasising the government’s focus on industrialisation, the Chief Minister said textiles are among the 16 priority sectors identified for development. “We are focusing on 16 sectors, including textiles.
