Its losses per share were at $0.31, worse than Wall Street’s expectations of&nbsp;a loss of $0.21, according to Stockwtis data.&nbsp;Revenue stood at $1.51 billion, falling short of the estimated $1.71 billion and down 18% from the same quarter last year.“The year-over-year decrease primarily reflects a decline in module ASPs and lower project sales, partially offset by higher battery energy storage solutions sales and higher solar module shipment volume,” the company said in a statement.For the fourth quarter, the Ontario-based company expects revenue between $1.5 billion and $1.6 billion, below the analyst consensus of $2.15 billion.&nbsp;"The solar industry faces significant external and internal challenges. <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CSIQ">Canadian Solar stock</a> tumbled over 3% in mid-day trading on Wednesday ahead of the company’s third-quarter results.&nbsp;The company’s stock price is approximately $12.14, reflecting a significant decline from its 52-week high of $26.85.&nbsp;The renewable energy company is grappling with falling revenues, narrowing margins, rising operating expenses, and widening losses, compounded by uncertainty surrounding its guidance amidst geopolitical tensions.Last quarter, the company missed earnings per share (EPS) by $0.11, which was followed by a 9.82% increase in the share price the next day.&nbsp;This time, Wall Street is expecting a loss of $0.21 per share on revenue of $1.71 billion.The company’s manufacturing footprint has come under scrutiny following President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to impose a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada.While Canadian Solar maintains U.S. manufacturing capacity, which could help mitigate the impact of new trade policies, much of its operations are based in Asia, particularly China, where it could face a 35% U.S. tariff.China and the U.S. together contribute nearly half of the company’s revenue.&nbsp;Analysts have also expressed concerns about a preliminary 78% anti-dumping (AD) tariff on solar products from Thailand, where Canadian Solar has significant production. These potential tariffs could hinder the company’s ability to compete effectively in the U.S. market.Despite challenges in the solar module sector, Canadian Solar’s energy storage business is a bright spot.&nbsp;The company’s energy storage segment has experienced significant growth, with a backlog of about $2.6 billion at the end of the June quarter. Canadian Solar Stock Tumbles Ahead of Q3 Earnings: Retail Investors Stay On The Sidelines

Retail investors are waiting on management commentary around potential tariffs and their impact on the company’s already falling revenue.

SunPower Corporation shares plunged nearly 48% on Friday after a report, which cited dealers, indicated the firm will discontinue supporting new leases, installations and product shipments. There is also indication that the firm might be looking for alternative providers to transfer its sold projects, according to a CNBC report.The firm did try working on its financials and cutting down costs, but has struggled to regain its footing. In April this year, the firm stated that it is moving to a low fixed-cost model that could better flex when the market is up or down. It said it is winding down its SunPower Residential Installation (SPRI) locations and closing SunPower Direct sales. Apart from these measures, SunPower also said it will be reducing its workforce by approximately 1,000 people to better align the business with its new focus.Last month, the company said it has drawn upon a $50 million second tranche of the $175 million second lien term loan from Sol Holding. Sol Holding, which is owned jointly by affiliates of TotalEnergies SE and Global Infrastructure Partners, is the majority owner of SunPower's common stock. SunPower agreed to issue warrants to Sol Holding to purchase up to approximately 33.40 million shares of common stock at an exercise price of $0.01 per share.Despite these steps, it seems the firm has not been able to complete its intended comeback. For now, investors on Stocktwits are debating the merit of these analyst predictions and chiming in with their own, overwhelmingly bearish commentary.
