That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Stellantis is the result of the 2021 merger of Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) and the French automotive company PSA.Following the merger in 2021, Filosa was appointed the South America COO. He was most recently appointed COO for both North and South America after previously serving as CEO of the Stellantis brand Jeep.Filosa will be granted CEO powers effective June 23. He will then announce the company’s new leadership team.The company also said that it will hold an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting in the coming days to elect Filosa to the Board as an executive director.Stellantis has been on the lookout for a new CEO since December after its previous chief executive, Carlos Tavares, stepped down. Last month, the company assured that the hunt for a permanent CEO would be concluded within the first half of 2025.Chairman Elkann is currently leading the company. Once Filosa takes over as the CEO, Elkann will continue in his role as Executive Chairman of the carmaker, Stellantis said.Filosa’s appointment comes as the company is going through a period of uncertainty. The Jeep-parent suspended its full-year financial guidance in April, citing tariff-related concerns.For the first quarter (Q1), Stellantis reported net revenues of €35.8 billion ($40.66 billion), down 14% compared to Q1 2024, and below Wall Street expectations. Carmaker Stellantis NV (STLA) said on Wednesday that it will invest $388 million to develop a megahub in Van Buren Township, Michigan, for its Mopar service parts distribution network.The new facility is set to launch in 2027 and will include AutoStore automated storage and retrieval systems, the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://media.stellantisnorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=26792&amp;mid=1">said</a>.The AutoStore system uses compact robots that navigate tracks above a high-density grid of storage bins to retrieve parts and deliver them to workstations, where employees pack and process final shipments.Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president and head of Mopar North America, said that the company is building a more reliable parts distribution network with the new facility. Stellantis Brand Citroën Appoints Xavier Chardon as CEO: Retail Sentiment Sours

The new chief executive will report to Stellantis’ Chief Operating Officer for Enlarged Europe, Jean-Philippe Imparato.

Chrysler parent Stellantis NV’s (STLA) chairman John Elkann on Thursday denied rumors of the automaker merging with French carmaker Renault, Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/stellantis-chairman-denies-merger-talks-with-renault-2025-05-15/">reported</a> on Thursday.Elkann said at the FT Future of the Car Summit in London that the two automakers are not discussing any merger. He was speaking in a panel discussion with Renault CEO Luca de Meo, the report noted.The two companies had dismissed the rumors of a potential merger in October as well, the report noted.The rumors emerged in October following Stellantis’ financial struggles amid intensifying competition in the auto sector. Similar rumors also emerged in early 2024.Stellantis is already the result of the 2021 merger of Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) and the French automotive company PSA. The company owns 14 brands, including Jeep, Citroen, Fiat, and Peugeot.The company is currently on the lookout for a new CEO after its previous CEO, Carlos Tavares, stepped down in December. Chairman Elkann is currently leading the company and the search for a new permanent CEO is expected to conclude within the first half of 2025, Stellantis said in April.For the first quarter (Q1), Stellantis reported net revenues of €35.8 billion ($40.66 billion), down 14% compared to Q1 2024 and below Wall Street expectations. Stellantis Chairman Denies Rumors Of Merger With Renault

The two companies had dismissed the rumors of a potential merger in October as well, Reuters noted.

Chrysler parent Stellantis NV (STLA) <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.media.stellantis.com/em-en/fiat/press/piano-italia-fiat-assembles-first-pre-production-units-of-the-new-500-hybrid-at-mirafiori-plant-in-turin">said</a> on Monday that it is planning to start production of the hybrid version of its Fiat 500 city car at its Mirafiori plant in Turin in November this year.The company aims to produce over 100,000 vehicle units per year at full capacity. Stellantis said industrialization is progressing on schedule, and it has begun assembling the first pre-production units of the vehicle.The company said it is looking to strengthen production at Mirafiori with the hybrid vehicle. “Our roots are in Italy, and it’s no coincidence that the two most iconic FIAT are made here: the Panda in Pomigliano and the 500 in Mirafiori,” Fiat CEO Olivier Francois said.Stellantis has multiple significant vehicle assembly plants in Italy, including Turin, Cassino, Pomigliano, Melfi, and Val Di Sangro. As of the end of 2024, the company employed 38,660 workers in Italy.Last week, the union Fiom-Cgil said that the car maker is looking to reduce 500 jobs at its vehicle assembly plant in Melfi, Italy, through voluntary exits.“It seems that a real plan for divestment from Italy is taking shape. For these reasons, Fiom-Cgil has not signed the redundancies,” the union had alleged.Stellantis is the result of the merger of Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) and PSA in 2021.
