This was another quarter of strong operational and financial delivery, and we made further progress towards our 2027 targets,” O’Neill said in a statement.<h2 class="st-heading-2">BP Benefits From Oil Surge</h2>The U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran, which has entered its ninth week, has led to a sharp surge in global oil prices as the critical Strait of Hormuz remains choked amid the conflict.Brent crude futures expiring in June are currently trading at over $111 a barrel at the time of writing, compared with around $72.5 before the war started.BP has also emerged as the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/not-batl-chevron-or-exxon-surprise-big-oil-winner-since-us-iran-war/cZBNkanRe2Y">best-performing stock</a> among the top oil supermajors, surging more than 18% since the start of the U.S.-Iran war.<h2 class="st-heading-2">BP Earnings Snapshot</h2>The oil supermajor said that its reported profit for the quarter was $3.8 billion, compared with a loss of $3.4 billion for the fourth quarter of 2025.Meanwhile, the company’s net debt was $25.3 billion at the end of the quarter, up from $22.18 billion as of Dec. 2025. However, BP said that it aims to bring this down to between $14 billion and $18 billion by the end of 2027.BP said it expects lower upstream production in Q2 due to seasonal maintenance and disruptions in the Middle East, while also noting that higher customer volumes may be offset by weaker midstream results. However, no final decision has been made and the situation would change, the report said.As per one of Bloomberg’s sources, Stellantis could sell its stake to a third party. Some sources also said that the exit from the 2021 JV could be costly for the automaker, as per the report.The report comes on the heels of Stellantis exiting a joint venture with LG Energy Solution in Windsor last week. The company sold its 49% stake in the JV to LG for just $100. &nbsp;STLA shares rose 3% at the time of writing. The automaker didn’t respond to Stocktwits’ request for comment at the time of writing.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Stellantis’ EV Pullback</h2>Last week, Stellantis <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/stellantis-stock-tumbles-toward-worst-day-ever/cZbF7rCR4nY">said</a> that a strategic review of its operations resulted in €22.2 billion ($26.42 billion) in charges in the second half of 2025. Most of the write-downs reflected a reassessment of the pace of customer adoption of electric vehicles."The charges announced today largely reflect the cost of over-estimating the pace of the energy transition that distanced us from many car buyers’ real-world needs, means and desires. Stellantis’ New CEO Takes Charge, Announces Leadership Changes: Stock Edges Lower As Insider Pick Draws Analyst Skepticism

The company said that in addition to 12 members of the leadership team, four others will report directly to the CEO. The leadership changes come as Stellantis’ new CEO, Antonio Filosa, takes charge of the automaker’s operations.

Chrysler parent Stellantis NV (STLA) <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.stellantis.com/en/news/press-releases/2025/may/stellantis-announces-antonio-filosa-25-year-veteran-of-the-company-to-be-its-new-chief-executive-officer">said</a> on Wednesday that it has appointed Antonio Filosa as its new Chief Executive Officer.Filosa was selected by a Special Committee of the Board led by Executive Chairman John Elkann after considering other internal and external candidates.The new CEO has more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry and joined the Fiat Group in 1999. Stellantis is the result of the 2021 merger of Fiat-Chrysler (FCA) and the French automotive company PSA.Following the merger in 2021, Filosa was appointed the South America COO. He was most recently appointed COO for both North and South America after previously serving as CEO of the Stellantis brand Jeep.Filosa will be granted CEO powers effective June 23. He will then announce the company’s new leadership team.The company also said that it will hold an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting in the coming days to elect Filosa to the Board as an executive director.Stellantis has been on the lookout for a new CEO since December after its previous chief executive, Carlos Tavares, stepped down. Last month, the company assured that the hunt for a permanent CEO would be concluded within the first half of 2025.Chairman Elkann is currently leading the company. Once Filosa takes over as the CEO, Elkann will continue in his role as Executive Chairman of the carmaker, Stellantis said.Filosa’s appointment comes as the company is going through a period of uncertainty. The Jeep-parent suspended its full-year financial guidance in April, citing tariff-related concerns.For the first quarter (Q1), Stellantis reported net revenues of €35.8 billion ($40.66 billion), down 14% compared to Q1 2024, and below Wall Street expectations. Carmaker Stellantis NV (STLA) said on Wednesday that it will invest $388 million to develop a megahub in Van Buren Township, Michigan, for its Mopar service parts distribution network.The new facility is set to launch in 2027 and will include AutoStore automated storage and retrieval systems, the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://media.stellantisnorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=26792&amp;mid=1">said</a>.The AutoStore system uses compact robots that navigate tracks above a high-density grid of storage bins to retrieve parts and deliver them to workstations, where employees pack and process final shipments.Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president and head of Mopar North America, said that the company is building a more reliable parts distribution network with the new facility.
