Comerica (CMA) shares fell 5% on Wednesday after the company missed the Wall Street estimate for fourth-quarter earnings.The lender reported an adjusted net earnings of $1.20 per share for the October to December quarter, compared with average analysts’ estimate of $1.26 per share, according to FinChat data.Its net interest income (NII) fell marginally to $575 million compared to last year.“Loans were pressured by paydowns in Commercial Real Estate, but we saw promising signals across other businesses that support our outlook for growth in 2025,” CEO Curtis C. Farmer said in a statement.The bank said that loans decreased $244 million to $50.6 billion sequentially during the fourth quarter, driven lower by a $225 million decline in Commercial Real Estate and a $132 million fall in Corporate Banking. Comerica Stock Drops On Q4 Earnings Miss, Retail Reaction Split

Shares of refiner Valero Energy Corporation ($VLO) rose nearly 1% in Thursday’s premarket session after the firm’s third-quarter (Q3) earnings and revenue topped Wall Street estimates.The firm <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20241023908536/en/Valero-Energy-Reports-Third-Quarter-2024-Results">reported</a> a 14% year-over-year (YoY) decline in its Q3 revenues to $32.87 billion compared to a Wall Street estimate of $31.13 billion. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $1.14 versus an estimate of $0.98. Net income, however, slid over 86% YoY to $364 million during the quarter.Refining margins came in at $2.41 billion during the quarter compared to $5.41 billion in the same quarter a year ago.The firm’s refining segment reported Q3 operating income of $565 million, compared to $3.4 billion for the same period a year ago.The Renewable Diesel segment reported $35 million of operating income compared to $123 million for the third quarter of 2023. Valero Energy Stock Rises Pre-Market After Upbeat Q3 Print: Retail Ignores Big Profit Decline 

The firm reported a 14% year-over-year (YoY) decline in its Q3 revenues to $32.87 billion compared to a Wall Street estimate of $31.13 billion.

Fifth Third Bancorp’s stock ($FITB) was down nearly 1.7% &nbsp;in pre-market trading after the company’s third-quarter earnings per share (EPS) and revenue missed Wall Street estimates. Retail sentiment, however, was neutral on Stocktwits.Fifth Third posted $0.78 in EPS, below the $0.83 estimated by analysts. Its revenue stood at $2.13 billion, below the expected $2.16 billion.Net income fell 13% to $573 million compared to the same period last year. Its net interest income fell 1% from a year-ago quarter to $1.43 billion.Retail sentiment was neutral (53/100) compared to ‘extremely bullish’ (79/100) a day ago. Message volume, meanwhile, was ‘high’. Citizens Financial Group stock was down 1.1% pre market (7:42 am ET) after its third quarter profit fell 11.8% from a year ago, with retail sentiment turning bearish.Its earnings per share (EPS) stood at $0.77, below the $0.79 estimated by analysts, on revenues of $1.9 billion, down 5.7% from the same quarter last year. However, the quarter was hit by forward starting swaps that began in July, and fees pushed out to the next quarter.Van Saun predicts a “strong fourth quarter and launch into 2025.”Citizens has also announced a quarterly common stock dividend of $0.42 per share.&nbsp;

CFG Stock Falls Pre-Market After Profit Misses Estimates: Retail Bearish

Shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. ($WBA) surged more than 5% pre-market Tuesday after the company reported better-than-expected earnings and revealed a significant store closure plan.Walgreens earned $0.39 per share on an adjusted basis in its fiscal fourth quarter, exceeding analysts’ average estimate of $0.36 per share.The company’s revenue climbed 6% year-over-year to $37.5 billion, topping expectations of $35.8 billion.In addition to its earnings beat, Walgreens announced a three-year “footprint optimization program” targeting approximately 1,200 store closures — about 14% of its U.S. locations — including 500 closures planned for fiscal 2025.The company believes this move will be immediately accretive to adjusted earnings per share (EPS) and free cash flow.“Fiscal 2025 will be an important rebasing year as we advance our strategy to drive value creation.
