First, we are continuing suffering pricing pressure on our vehicle in addition to having a higher cost of production due to the duties,” CFO Jean-Francois Mady said.Polestar is majority owned by China’s Geely and its chairman. The company is currently attempting to cut costs through various measures, including job cuts.“We will continue to optimize the structure of our operations and expect to end the year at approximately 2,000 employees, down from 2,500 at the start of the year, a reduction of 20%. Polestar Posts 13% Sales Growth In Q3: Retail’s Optimistic On Future Growth Prospects

Polestar (PSNY) CEO Michael Lohscheller on Wednesday expressed optimism about the market pricing in cost increases due to the removal of tax credit on the purchase of EVs in the U.S.“Even after the disappearance of the tax credit, the U.S. will stay an important market for us. I also do believe that eventually, the market will price for cost increases, right? I’ve never seen in many, many years in automotive that cost increases have not led to price increases,” Lohscheller said during the company’s second quarter earnings call on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, at the moment, the price environment is pretty competitive.”President Donald Trump signed the Republican tax bill into law on the Fourth of July. Under the new law, tax credits for the purchase of electric vehicles will expire on September 30. Both Volvo Cars and Polestar are controlled by China’s Geely.While offering design and performance characteristics unique to Polestar, the Polestar 7 compact SUV will share a technology base with two forthcoming Volvo models and use architectures from within Geely. &nbsp;Construction started on the Volvo Cars factory in Košice in 2023. The plant is currently under construction, and it will be Volvo Cars’ third manufacturing plant in Europe.
