Flagstar Bancorp is a savings and loan holding company that provides commercial, small business, and consumer banking services. Formerly known as FSSB Holding Corporation, the company is engaged, through its principal subsidiary, the Bank, in the business of providing a full range of retail banking services in southern Michigan and in originating, purchasing, and servicing residential mortgage loans on a nationwide basis. It also provides home loans through a wholesale network of brokers and correspondents in all 50 states, as well as 87 retail locations in 28 states, representing the combined retail branches of Flagstar and its Opes Advisors mortgage division.
