Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. Unlike many other digital assets, the network has no inflation because the community voted to disable the automatic creation of new tokens. While the project received early funding from the payments company Stripe, it is now sustained by a global community of validators and developers rather than traditional venture capital.

This was aided by the recovery from last year’s production stoppage due to recalls and by the strong performance of hybrid vehicles, the company said.The company also increased its electrified vehicle sales last month, and recorded an overall 2.3% growth to 412,577 units. Toyota Industries Likely To Accept $42B Takeover Bid From Toyota Motor And Group Companies, Says Report: Retail’s Undecided

The consortium is expected to take Toyota Industries private after it accepts the tender offer, with the takeover bid estimated at 6 trillion yen, or approximately $42 billion.

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://global.toyota/en/company/profile/production-sales-figures/202504.html">said</a> on Thursday that its worldwide sales and production rose for the fourth consecutive month in April, sending the NYSE-listed shares of the Japanese automaker over 2% higher in pre-market.The company’s global sales jumped 10% to 876,864 units on the back of a near 12% jump in sales within Japan and a near 10% increase in sales outside the home country. This includes sales of its Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles.While sales rose 10% in the U.S. owing to a rush in demand before Trump tariffs took effect, sales in China rose 21% on the back of sales promotion measures undertaken by dealerships. However, the market in China remains challenging, with a shift to new energy vehicles and intensifying price competition, Toyota noted.In Japan, the launch of new vehicle models aided the sales growth.Vehicle production, meanwhile, rose 8% in April after manufacturing within Japan rose 7% and production outside the home country rose over 8%. Toyota Records Fourth Straight Month Of Sales Jump In April: But Retail’s Not Yet Convinced

The company reported a 25% jump in sales of electrified vehicles last month, owing to a 24% increase in sales of hybrid electric vehicles in particular, which touched 378,976 units.

French pharmaceutical major Sanofi SA (SNY) on Tuesday reportedly launched a vaccine manufacturing facility in Vietnam with Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC). Following the news, Nasdaq-listed shares of Sanofi traded 2% higher in Tuesday’s premarket.The new facility is designed to produce vaccines for use in Vietnam as well as for export, according to a Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/sanofi-vnvc-launch-vaccine-factory-vietnam-2025-05-27/">report</a>. It added that French President Emmanuel Macron, who is currently visiting Vietnam, witnessed the launch.The plant spans 2.6 hectares and is situated in Long An. It has received an initial investment of two trillion dong ($77.15 million), the report said, citing a statement from VNVC.The new facility is slated to produce 100 million vaccine doses annually, although it is unclear which vaccines will be produced.Operations are expected to begin by 2027-end, the report added.Sanofi, renowned for its vaccines, reported an 11.4% surge in vaccine sales in the first quarter to €1.3 billion ($1.48 billion). The company’s total sales in the quarter came in at €9.9 billion, marking an increase of 9.7% at constant exchange rate.Sanofi makes vaccines against RSV lung infection, Polio, Influenza, whooping cough, and Meningitis, among others.
