Toyota Records Fourth Straight Month Of Sales Jump In April: But Retail’s Not Yet Convinced

French pharmaceutical major Sanofi SA (SNY) on Tuesday reportedly launched a vaccine manufacturing facility in Vietnam with Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC). Following the news, Nasdaq-listed shares of Sanofi traded 2% higher in Tuesday’s premarket.The new facility is designed to produce vaccines for use in Vietnam as well as for export, according to a Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/sanofi-vnvc-launch-vaccine-factory-vietnam-2025-05-27/">report</a>. It added that French President Emmanuel Macron, who is currently visiting Vietnam, witnessed the launch.The plant spans 2.6 hectares and is situated in Long An. It has received an initial investment of two trillion dong ($77.15 million), the report said, citing a statement from VNVC.The new facility is slated to produce 100 million vaccine doses annually, although it is unclear which vaccines will be produced.Operations are expected to begin by 2027-end, the report added.Sanofi, renowned for its vaccines, reported an 11.4% surge in vaccine sales in the first quarter to €1.3 billion ($1.48 billion). The company’s total sales in the quarter came in at €9.9 billion, marking an increase of 9.7% at constant exchange rate.Sanofi makes vaccines against RSV lung infection, Polio, Influenza, whooping cough, and Meningitis, among others. Sanofi, VNVC Launch Vaccine Manufacturing Facility In Vietnam, Says Report: Retail’s Positive

According to Reuters, operations at the new facility are expected to begin by the end of 2027. 

Japanese automaker Toyota Motor (TM) expects operating income for fiscal year 2026 to fall 21% year-on-year to 3,800 billion yen ($26.25 billion), owing to factors including U.S. tariffs on vehicle imports.The company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://global.toyota/pages/global_toyota/ir/financial-results/2025_4q_summary_en.pdf">said</a> that the new forecast includes a negative impact of 180 billion yen from U.S. tariffs for April and May, and an estimated 745 billion yen from the effects of the foreign exchange rate.The carmaker expects revenue to rise 1% to 48.5 trillion yen in FY26 due to higher retail vehicle sales. Honda Eyes Shifting Production Of Hybrid Civic From Japan To US, Says Report: Retail’s Skeptical

Shares of Toyota Motor Corp (TM) traded over 5% lower on Friday noon, amid broader market weakness, following a Nikkei Asia <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Toyota-to-cover-suppliers-higher-costs-owing-to-Trump-tariffs">report </a>that the company’s North American subsidiary has offered to help local auto parts makers with rising costs associated with tariffs announced by the Trump administration.Trump’s 25% tariffs on all vehicles imported to the U.S. took effect on Thursday. The White House also warned that it plans to place tariffs on some auto parts, such as engines, by May 3.Toyota indicated to its major suppliers that it would cover the increased cost on parts imported from Mexico and Canada to the U.S., Nikkei Asia reported.The report said details regarding the assistance, including how long the company will offer it, are yet to be worked out.The U.S. is Toyota's single largest market.
