Ethereum is a global, open-source platform for decentralized applications. In other words, it is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables developers to build and deploy smart contracts and applications without central authority control. Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as digital currency, Ethereum operates as a programmable global computer where developers can create any type of decentralized service.   The platform hosts over $14 billion in DeFi applications with hundreds of thousands of active users across financial protocols, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Its transition to Proof of Stake in September 2022 reduced energy consumption by over 99%, addressing environmental concerns while strengthening network security.  The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Back in 2011, long before “crypto Twitter”, NFTs, or VC-backed chains existed, users of the BitcoinTalk forum came up with a new currency - not to launch a network, but to make fun of btc.... and so: The first memecoin/memecurrency was born.  On May 23, 2011, a Something Awful poster cracked, “Has anyone called them buttcoins yet?”. It was sophomoric and perfect. Within weeks the gag metastasized into Buttcoin.org, a parody blog that described a “peer to peer butt” economy while cataloging mining fiascos, exchange blowups, and MLM-adjacent “innovations”.

Managed by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation, the project serves as a global infrastructure that connects banks, payment systems, and individuals to expand financial access to underserved populations. Its main value proposition lies in providing a bridge between traditional money and digital networks through the use of Anchors, which are trusted entities that hold deposits and issue credits on the ledger.  The network operates using the Stellar Consensus Protocol and a Federated Byzantine Agreement, where nodes choose trusted sets of other nodes to agree on the state of the ledger. This system ensures high throughput and fast finality, where transactions are considered permanent and irreversible within seconds. Key features include a built-in distributed exchange for trading assets without intermediaries and the Soroban platform for developing smart contracts. Users can also utilize the network for tokenizing real-world assets or accessing decentralized finance services like peer-to-peer lending.  Stellar's native token, XLM, is essential for maintaining network integrity by acting as an intermediary to find efficient exchange paths and preventing spam through small transaction fees and minimum account balance requirements. Unlike many other digital assets, the network has no inflation because the community voted to disable the automatic creation of new tokens. While the project received early funding from the payments company Stripe, it is now sustained by a global community of validators and developers rather than traditional venture capital.

Wyshner has been replaced by Harsh Chugh, who has been named as interim CFO. Mark Ringes has been named Interim General Counsel.In a separate release, the company said that its Audit Committee is reviewing cash management, disclosures, and internal financial controls, following voluntary document requests from the Division of Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As a result, Kyndryl said it needs more time to complete its evaluation, which will delay the filing of its Form 10-Q.Kyndryl said it expects to report material weaknesses in its internal control over financial reporting in the upcoming quarterly report, as well as for fiscal year 2025 and the first two quarters of fiscal 2026.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Kyndryl&nbsp;Cuts FY2026 Earnings Guidance</h2>Kyndryl expects fiscal 2026 adjusted pretax income between $575 million and $600 million, significantly below its previous guidance of at least $725 million. The company also cut its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin to 17.5% from 18%. The company now expects a 2% to 3% decline in constant-currency revenue, compared to 1% growth it had forecast earlier.While third-quarter (Q3) revenue came in at $3.86 billion, marginally below Wall Street’s $3.89 billion estimate, according to Fiscal.ai data, its earnings of $0.25 per share were less than half the Street's $0.67 per share estimate.Oppenheimer downgraded Kyndryl to “Perform” from “Outperform” and removed its prior price target, according to The Fly.
