Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. The result is that Bitcoin Core is currently unusable as money due to increasingly high fees per transactions and transfer times taking hours to complete. This is all because of the 1MB limitation of Bitcoin Core’s block size, causing it unable to accommodate to large number of transactions. The per-share price represents a near 2% premium to the stock’s closing price on Friday.Polestar said that it intends to use the proceeds for working capital requirements and general corporate purposes. Europe currently accounts for a majority of the EV maker’s sales.Polestar will start taking orders for its Polestar 2,3, and 4 models in France on Wednesday at starting prices ranging from €46,800 ($53,523) to €79,800, Reuters reported.The first showroom in France is expected to open in Le Mans in July, with the initial deliveries slated for October, the report added.Polestar reported an 84% year-on-year (YoY) surge in first-quarter revenue to $608 million and a narrower net loss last month. Shopee Parent Sea Ltd Swings To Profit On Strong E-commerce Growth; Retail Investors Excited

Swedish EV maker Polestar (PSNY) reported an 84% year-on-year surge in first-quarter revenue and a narrower net loss on Monday.The company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://media.polestar.com/global/en/media/pressreleases/690154">reported</a> revenue of $608 million, up from $330 million in the corresponding period of 2024, but below an analyst estimate of $677 million, as per Koyfin data.The revenue rise was primarily due to a 76.5% jump in retail sales, supported by newer models, to an estimated 12,304 cars.The company’s net loss in the three months through the end of March fell to $190 million from $276 million in the corresponding period of 2024, driven by gross profit improvement, among other factors.The company’s gross margin improved to 6.8% in the first quarter (Q1) from -7.7% in Q1 2024 due to a growing share of higher margin models.Polestar said the joint venture with Hubei Xingji Meizu Group Co. in China has been terminated, and distribution rights have been transferred to the firm. Polestar Reports Narrower Q1 Losses, Significant Jump In Sales: Retail Turns Bullish

The company reported a 76.5% jump in retail sales and a significant improvement in gross margin during the quarter.

Polestar (PSNY) is recalling 27,816 vehicles in the U.S., citing issues with rear camera image display, U.S. auto safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday.The regulator <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCAK-25V280-2393.pdf">said</a> the rearview camera image may not display when the vehicle is in reverse, posing risks of a crash. Customers may experience a “Camera is temporarily unavailable” message instead of the rear view when the gear selector is in reverse.As for a fix, the company’s dealers will release an additional software update, free of cost to the customer.The recall population includes model year 2021-2025 Polestar 2 liftback vehicles manufactured between July 2020 and November 2024. The Polestar 2, made in China, is no longer being produced for the U.S. market.Earlier this week, Polestar paused its full-year financial guidance, citing uncertainty around international tariffs and government regulations impacting its business and market dynamics. Polestar Recalls Nearly 28,000 Vehicles In US Over Faulty Rear Camera Image Display: Retail’s Disappointed

The recall population includes model year 2021- 2025 Polestar 2 liftback vehicles manufactured between July 2020 and November 2024.

EV maker Polestar (PSNY) was in the spotlight on Thursday after the company <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://investors.polestar.com/news-releases/news-release-details/polestar-q1-retail-sales-grew-76-compared-same-quarter-last-year">said</a> its retail sales volume in the first quarter rose 76% compared to the corresponding quarter last year.The Swedish company reported retail sales of an estimated 12,304 units, driven by a growing uptake of newer models and a transition to an active-selling model.Polestar’s new CEO Michael Lohscheller said the company is on “the right track and doing the right things.” Lohscheller joined Polestar as its chief executive in October, succeeding Thomas Ingenlath.“With a more active selling model, more retail partners and attractive cars, we are delivering results. At the same time, we are monitoring closely and assessing the volatile geopolitical environment and will adapt as needed,” Lohscheller said.The company currently manufactures cars in the U.S. and China. Polestar Q1 Sales Jump 76% On Newer Models: Retail Sentiment Brightens

ZIM Integrated Shipping (ZIM) stock rose 2.3% on Monday after it signed long-term charter agreements for ten liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual fuel container vessels for $2.3 billion.The container vessels, each with a capacity of 11,500 twenty-foot equivalent containers, will be built at Zhoushan Changhong Shipyard in China. Delivery is expected between 2027 and 2028.The company said seven of the vessels would be chartered to ZIM by Containers Ventures Holdings Inc., an affiliate of the TMS Group, and three by a shipping firm affiliated with Kenon Holdings, Ltd., which was ZIM's largest shareholder until the end of 2024.“Operating LNG capacity has proved commercially advantageous for ZIM, and we anticipate increased demand for environmentally friendly shipping options, making access to LNG capacity even more beneficial in the future," CEO Eli Glickman said.Companies worldwide are attempting to curtail emissions to comply with their net-zero goals.
