Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, on Thursday said the pace of piped natural gas (PNG) connections across India has become three times faster compared to the pre-war period (US-Iran war), with the industry targeting 30,000 new connections per day going ahead. "The connection that we used to have in the pre-war period has become three times faster in today's date. Earlier, it used to be 3-4 thousand in the entire India, but now it has become 10-12 thousand," he said.

NEW DELHI: Joining efforts to ease cooking gas supplies in the wake of the Iran conflict, the NDMC announced on Friday the waiver of road restoration charges applicable for laying of IGL pipelines for PNG connections for a period of three months, an official said. In view of the prevailing circumstances and in the larger public interest, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued a circular to facilitate the speedy expansion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections within its civic area by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). The decision aims to ensure expeditious execution of pipeline works so that residents and establishments can receive PNG connections without unnecessary delay, said an official statement. As per the directions issued by NDMC, the Road Restoration charges applicable for laying of IGL pipelines for PNG connections have been waived for a period of three months from the date of issuance of the circular. This step has been taken to accelerate the pace of infrastructure development and to promote the use of cleaner and more convenient fuel among consumers.

Ahmedabad, March 11 : Shares of Adani Total Gas surged 20 per cent to hit the upper circuit on Wednesday, extending gains even as India faces a deepening natural gas supply crunch. The sharp rally came after the company said domestic piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) used for transport have received priority allocation under a recent order by the Indian Government. The stock also witnessed heavy trading activity during the session. Average volumes at the counter jumped more than 20 times, with a combined 16.44 million shares changing hands on the National Stock Exchange of India and the BSE. The company operates in the city gas distribution business, supplying natural gas to domestic, commercial, industrial and vehicle users. Other gas stocks also followed suit and surged during intra-day trade despite market sell-off. Gujarat Gas jumped nearly 12 pc to Rs 420 and end 3.96 per cent higher at Rs 390 during the session.
