To protect the network from spam, a small amount of XRP is burned during every transaction, and the token is further utilized by institutions as collateral to access traditional markets and manage digital asset infrastructure.  Institutional adoption of the asset reached a major milestone in November 2025 when the SEC approved the first wave of spot XRP ETFs. These products, offered by major issuers including Bitwise, Grayscale, 21Shares, Canary Capital, and Franklin Templeton, are now listed on prominent exchanges like the NYSE Arca, Nasdaq, and Cboe BZX. While Ripple remains a key contributor to the ecosystem, the underlying XRP Ledger continues to operate as an open-source and decentralized network.

The network operates through thousands of independent validator nodes that process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Smart contracts are self-executing programs written in Solidity that automatically carry out agreements when conditions are met, eliminating intermediaries like banks or brokers.   Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake.   Ether (ETH) serves multiple functions: paying transaction fees (gas), staking to secure the network and earn 3-5% annual yields, serving as collateral in DeFi protocols, and purchasing NFTs and digital assets. The asset is increasingly adopted by traditional institutions, with publicly traded companies adding ETH to corporate treasuries to generate staking yields while maintaining blockchain exposure, and in 2024, the SEC approved spot Ethereum ETFs, allowing traditional investors to gain exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.  Ethereum's roadmap focuses on dramatically increasing transaction capacity to over 100,000 per second, reducing confirmation times, and enhancing decentralization while maintaining security against future threats like quantum computing.

Users can choose between transparent public transactions and shielded private transactions through Unified Addresses, which work with both types. The network is faster and cheaper than Bitcoin, with new blocks mined every 75 seconds and transaction fees typically just a fraction of a cent. Privacy adoption has surged in 2025, with over 30% of total ZEC supply now held in fully shielded pools.  Zcash was created by a group of scientists in 2013 who initially proposed Zerocoin as a privacy extension to Bitcoin before building a standalone protocol. The ecosystem operates with a self-funded development model where block rewards support independent teams through the Zcash Community Grants Committee and a new Coinholder-Controlled Fund.

India's domestic air passenger traffic declines in Feb amid supply constraints

Indian airlines, including the Air India Group, IndiGo, Akasa Air and SpiceJet collectively operate a fleet of more than 800 aircraft, though some remain grounded due to technical and supply-related issues.

IndiGo plans A321XLR flights to Istanbul

Mumbai: Domestic carrier IndiGo on Friday announced it will deploy its long-range narrow-body A321XLR aircraft on the Delhi- Istanbul route, which is currently being serviced with an Airbus A320neo with a technical halt at Jeddah, starting from April 19.The strategically important route enables the airline to offer seamless onward connections to over 50 international destinations through its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines, it said.The Airbus A321XLR operating IndiGo's non-stop Delhi-Istanbul route would be the airline's second such plane.Earlier this year, IndiGo became the first Indian carrier to induct the Airbus A321XLR into its fleet and launched operations to Athens, underlining.The new-generation aircraft offers enhanced range, fuel efficiency, and cabin comfort, enabling IndiGo to unlock new long-haul markets, IndiGo said.IndiGo had initially wet-leased two widebody Boeing 777 from Turkish Airlines in early 2023 to cater to rising demand for international travel from India.The airline started operating its first wet-leased B777 on the Delhi-Istanbul route from February 1, 2023, and the second such plane on the Mumbai-Istanbul route from May 17, 2023.However, Turkey supported Pakistan but condemned India on the strike into the terrorist camps in Operation Sindoor earlier last year, after the Pahalgam terror attack.
