Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. He said companies that pay their executives tens of millions of dollars a year shouldn't be returning cash to shareholders if that money could be used to boost manufacturing capacity.He said he wants defense contractors to funnel more spending to plant construction, equipment and workforce expansion so weapons systems can be delivered more rapidly.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Battleship Construction Plan</h2>Trump approved a plan for the Navy to begin construction of two new battleships, which he said would be the first such vessels built by the U.S. since 1994. He said the ships would be constructed in U.S. shipyards and would create thousands of American jobs.Trump said the U.S. Navy would lead the design of the ships alongside industry partners.Beyond battleships, Trump said the administration is moving ahead with additional production of submarines, aircraft carriers and fighter jets. IATA director general Willie Walsh told Reuters earlier this week that people trust Boeing’s delivery commitment much more than Airbus's.Airbus will need to deliver 133 jets this month to meet its annual 2025 delivery target of 790, according to the company. However, Airbus still leads Boeing in overall backlog and deliveries. In November, Boeing delivered 44 jets, compared with 72 for Airbus.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Boeing Turnaround</h2>The planemaker had its own fair share of trouble in recent times. Boeing stock fell 6% in November, logging its third straight monthly decline. The recent declines followed the company's third-quarter loss, which was partly due to delays in deliveries of its large-body 777X aircraft. The firm booked a $4.9 billion pre-tax charge due to the delay and now expects to bring its 777X aircraft to customers in 2027.However, Boeing aims to increase deliveries of its best-selling 737 Max jets and widebody aircraft next year. If the gains hold, Boeing stock could see its best day since April.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Else Did Boeing's CFO Say?</h2>Boeing has not posted positive annual free cash flow since 2023. Malave, who took charge in August, reportedly said that in the longer run, the company still expects to achieve the $10 billion cash generation target highlighted by the previous management.“There’s just no reason why we can’t get to that once we get to these higher rates on the aircraft,” Malave told a UBS conference. “I’m very comfortable saying that we can absolutely deliver $10 billion.”He also reportedly cited steadily rising output at Boeing’s factories, especially for its 737 Max and 787 Dreamliner jets, and the reduction in its inventory of undelivered aircraft as reasons for optimism. Higher profitability in its defense division and steady growth in its services operations were some of the other factors.However, Malave warned that the largest 737 model, the Max 10, likely would not be certified for commercial service until later in 2026, pushing some deliveries into 2027. The alterations reduced the value of Boeing's contract to $3.732 billion from $4.5 billion, Reuters reported.Amid the negative headlines, the Federal Aviation Administration allowed Boeing to raise its 737 Max production to 42 per month from 38, relaxing a cap imposed on the firm following a mid-air incident involving an Alaska Airlines 737 Max aircraft. It was a crucial step towards profitability, as aircraft makers receive a bulk of the payments only after delivering the aircraft.Ratings agency S&amp;P Global last month changed the outlook for Boeing stock to ‘stable’ from ‘negative’. The analysts wrote, “A delay in the first 777X delivery will temper our previous estimates, but we expect growth in 737 and 787 deliveries to lead to much stronger credit measures over the next two years.”Boeing aims to achieve 737 Max production of 47 per month in 2026.
