The January 2024 SEC approval of 11 spot Bitcoin ETFs opened Bitcoin investment to traditional finance participants, and corporations like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) are using Bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset to protect against currency debasement, offering MSTR holders amplified exposure to Bitcoin.   The Bitcoin ecosystem continues to evolve with innovations like Ordinals, which emerged in January 2023 to enable NFT-like functionality directly on Bitcoin, and BRC-20 tokens, an experimental standard for creating fungible tokens using Ordinal inscriptions. BTCFi (Bitcoin Finance) represents emerging financial applications extending beyond Bitcoin's traditional role, with protocols like Babylon allowing Bitcoin holders to stake BTC to secure Proof of Stake chains.

The firm expects the AI infrastructure trade will continue to be a major investment theme in 2026 and believes that IREN provides "the most levered exposure across our coverage universe to this theme," the analyst told investors.&nbsp;The company has already secured one of the largest AI contracts to date among the BTC miners with "a blue-chip counterparty" in Microsoft (MSFT) and IREN has the largest near-term development pipeline across the analyst's coverage with over 2 GW of incremental capacity expected to fully energize by 2027, the firm added.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Microsoft Contract</h2>IREN last year announced a multi-year agreement with Microsoft valued at approximately $9.7 billion to deliver GPU cloud infrastructure powered by NVIDIA GB300 GPUs.Under the agreement, IREN will deliver large scale GPU clusters accommodated within IREN’s liquid cooled data centers under construction at its 750 MW campus located in Childress, Texas. Alibaba’s (BABA) Vice President Kaifu Zhang reportedly told reporters on Thursday that the company was seeing a recovery from its artificial intelligence investment in the e-commerce operations.According to a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/16/alibaba-says-ai-spending-for-e-commerce-taobao-tmall-is-breaking-even.html">CNBC report</a>, Zhang, who looks after the company’s e-commerce AI applications, shared that Alibaba deployed multiple AI tools aimed at boosting personalized user experience and also virtual try-ons of clothing. The report, citing Zhang, said that the initial testing has shown that AI has generated steady results with a 12% rise in advertising spend returns.“It’s very rare to see double-digit changes” in such tests, Zhang said in Mandarin and translated by CNBC. The report noted that he forecast a “very significant” positive impact mainly from the company’s AI investment, which will help boost Alibaba’s gross merchandise volume during the November 11 Singles Day shopping period.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/BABA">NYSE-listed shares of BABA</a> traded nearly 0.5% higher in Thursday’s pre-market session.
