CrowdStrike Draws Caution From Wall Street Over Growth Outlook, But Retail Goes Contrarian

Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss downgraded cybersecurity giant CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. (CRWD), citing concerns that its strong rally has largely priced in upcoming growth.&nbsp;As per TheFly, Weiss rated the stock as ‘Equal Weight’, down from the previous ‘Overweight’ rating and modestly raised the price target to $495 from $490, suggesting a tempered view on the cybersecurity firm's future upside.Following the downgrade,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CRWD">CrowdStrike stock&nbsp;</a>inched lower by 0.4% on Monday afternoon.The firm noted that CrowdStrike shares have climbed approximately 50% from their April lows, leaving limited room for further gains.&nbsp;“The expected second half of 2025 growth acceleration now looks well priced into the stock,” Weiss told investors in a research note, signaling that much of the anticipated progress is already reflected in the current valuation.While still praising CrowdStrike’s long-term strategic positioning in cybersecurity, the analyst expressed caution around the stock’s near-term potential.&nbsp;The analyst opined that despite its competitive moat and growth trajectory, the recent surge may have diminished the margin for additional upside.The company’s first-quarter (Q1)&nbsp;revenue climbed 20% year over year (YoY) to $1.103 billion, slightly below the $1.105-billion consensus estimate as per Finchat data.However, the adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.73 surpassed the analysts' consensus estimate of $0.66. (CRWD) shares declined over 7% in Wednesday’s premarket after analysts downgraded the stock following a first-quarter (Q1) revenue miss and soft guidance.The cybersecurity vendor’s Q1 revenue grew 20% year-on-year (YoY) to $1.10 billion, marginally missing the consensus estimate of $1.105 billion, as per Finchat data.The adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.73 surpassed an estimate of $0.66.BofA lowered its rating on the stock from ‘Outperform’ to ‘Neutral’, but increased the price target to $470 from $420, as per TheFly.&nbsp;The firm remains positive on CrowdStrike's core business and growth outlook, but believes the current valuation limits further gains.&nbsp;The new target implies only about a 3% upside from the stock’s current levels.&nbsp;Notably, the company’s sales growth slowed to below 20% in the first half of fiscal year 2026. The company also announced a $1 billion stock buyback authorization.Austin, Texas-based CrowdStrike reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.73 compared to the year-ago quarter’s $0.79 and the Finchat-compiled consensus of $0.66.Revenue climbed 20% year over year (YoY) to $1.103 billion,&nbsp;slightly below the $1.105-billion consensus estimate and the upper end of the guided range. CrowdStrike Analyst Dismisses Alphabet-Wiz Threat, But Retail Sees Some Risks

(CRWD) shares slumped in Wednesday’s premarket trading after the cybersecurity provider reported a slowdown in quarterly operational metrics and issued mixed guidance.&nbsp;The Austin, Texas-based company reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.03 for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2025. The bottom-line result exceeded the year-ago&nbsp;figure of $0.95,&nbsp;beating the Finchat-compiled consensus of $0.86 per share.Revenue climbed 25% year over year (YoY) to $1.059 billion versus the $1.035-billion consensus estimate. However, the YoY growth decelerated from the third quarter’s 29%.The top- and bottom-line results also exceeded the company’s guidance that called for adjusted EPS of $0.84-$0.86 and revenue of $1.0287 billion to $1.0354 billion.Among the key operational metrics, annual recurring revenue (ARR) grew 23% YoY to $4.24 billion as of Jan. 31, 2025, with the net new ARR added during the quarter at $224.3 million. The ARR growth decelerated from 27% in the third quarter, but the net new ARR added improved from $153 million.The adjusted Subscription gross margin remained steady at 80%&nbsp;Founder and CEO George Kurtz said, “Delivering $224 million of net new ARR, which brings our ending ARR to $4.24 billion, places us firmly on the flight path to our $10 billion ending ARR goal.”He noted that Crowdstrike saw strong momentum in its next-generation SIEM, Cloud Security, and Identity Protection businesses, surpassing $1.3 billion in combined ending ARR.&nbsp;Kurtz also noted that accounts adopting its artificial intelligence (AI)-native Security Operations Center (SOC), Falcon Flex, added over $1 billion of in-quarter deal value.&nbsp;Looking ahead, the company guided first-quarter adjusted EPS and revenue to be $0.64 to $0.66 and $1.1006 billion to $1.1064&nbsp;billion, respectively. This compares to the $0.95 and $1.104 billion guidance, respectively.Crowdstrike expects its fiscal year 2026 adjusted EPS and revenue to be $3.33 to $3.45 and $4.744 billion to $4.806 billion, respectively.
