Gold dips 1.82% during week amidst macroeconomic volatility, soft US CPI data
Mumbai : Gold prices fell almost 1.82 percent during the week, as investors remain cautious amid huge volatility with the dollar showing occasional bouts of strength. Meanwhile on Friday, MCX gold February futures surged 0.20 percent while MCX silver March futures added 3.62 percent. Currently gold futures stand at Rs 1,56,200, while silver futures at Rs 2,44,999 per kg. The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold was at Rs 1,52,765 on Friday down from Rs 1,55,593 seen on Monday, according to data published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). Gold traded positive in early session on Friday, but overall tone remains volatile to weak after sharp sell-off from Rs 1,58,000 to Rs 1,54,000, as prices failed to sustain above the Rs 1,60,000 mark, said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities. Resistance is now firmly placed near Rs 1,60,000, and if gold continues to trade below Rs 1,56,000, a retest of the Rs 1,51,000 support zone cannot be ruled out, the analyst said.

The Sensex rises 304 points as the Indian stock market finishes high on lower inflation statistics
Mumbai, Aug 13 : The Indian stock market settled in green on Wednesday after the consumer price index (CPI) decreased to an eight-year low, amid strong buying in midcap stocks. Indias inflation rate based on CPI eased further to 1.55 per cent in July this year amid a decline in food prices. This is the lowest level of year-on-year retail inflation since June 2017. Sensex settled at 80,539.91, up 304 points or 0.38 per cent. The 30-share index opened with a decent gap-up at 80,492.17 against last session's closing of 80,235.59, buoyed by positive inflation data. The index remained range-bound amid buying in specific sectors, including auto and metal. Nifty closed 24,619.35, up 131.95 points or 0.54 per cent. "Indian equities experienced a broad-based optimism as CPI hit an eight-year low, boosting hopes for a revival in discretionary spending, led by autos and metals. Midcaps outperformed, reflecting strong investor appetite. Globally, sentiment improved on the extension of Chinas tariff deadline and easing oil prices," said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited.

SBI, NMDC among 10 stocks that can rally up to 38%. Time to buy?
The Indian equity markets have been on a downward streak due to concerns over valuations, particularly in the mid and small-cap sectors, global uncertainties stemming from President Trump’s tariff threats, and, most significantly, a slowing economy.Amid this, domestic brokerage firm LKP Securities highlighted that a sharp sell-off has lowered Nifty 50's CY2025 PE to 18.8x, presenting an attractive opportunity. Technically, Nifty has dropped 17% in five months, pushing the RSI (14) to 22—a level last seen during COVID-19—indicating deeply oversold conditions and high rebound potential.
