Iran had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz even as Israel and Lebanon agreed to a temporary ceasefire. Apart from the “happy ending” priced in due to developments in the war, Noble said that the uptick in the “Magnificent Seven” tech stocks also helped push markets higher.“The S&amp;P 500 is trading at all-time highs because 7 mega cap tech stocks (powered by AI narratives) account for nearly half the index's market cap,” he said. The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/MAGS">Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF</a>, which tracks Alphabet (GOOGL), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Meta (META), Microsoft (MSFT), NVIDIA (NVDA), and Tesla (TSLA), climbed 8.68% higher last week, the most weekly gains in about 11 months.<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/koyfin_20260420_084406819_png_7674733f44.webp" alt="koyfin_20260420_084406819.png" width="2400" height="1240"><figcaption>Source: Koyfin</figcaption></figure>“Those stocks run on their own dynamic, independent of anything, including the war in Iran. That's a market being dragged to record highs by a handful of names while the real economy deteriorates underneath,” Noble noted.Meanwhile, the investor highlighted how the broader market was sinking, with software stocks plummeting this year, private credit “imploding,” gas prices surging, and consumer purchasing conditions for big-ticket items falling sharply.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Noble Warns Of Consumer Distress</h2>When markets and consumer sentiment highlight different narratives, “Consumers feel the pain before it shows up in the indices,” Noble said. &nbsp;“In 2007, the S&amp;P 500 hit its record in October. Consumer sentiment had been falling since July 2007. 3 months later, we were in recession.”Meanwhile, the U.S. stock market has reached its most expensive valuation relative to economic output in recorded history, <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/Barchart/status/2045851598791020572?s=20">according</a> to Barchart. "Of the AWS capex we expect ​to spend in 2026, much of which will be monetized in 2027-2028, we already have customer commitments for a substantial portion of it."&nbsp;Jassy described AI as a once-in-a-generation technological shift that will transform nearly every customer experience and have an impact on industries from shopping and entertainment to healthcare and software development. The stock has gained for four straight days, cumulatively over 13%, and is now up 1.2% for the year.&nbsp;Alphabet is the only other Magnificent Seven stock that is in the green for 2026.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Analyst, Retail View On AMZN</h2>After the letter, William Blair added Amazon to its ‘Conviction list,’ a curated set of its highest-confidence stock picks that the firm believes have the strongest potential to outperform over the long term.Building on a stronger defense of the AI strategy in the 2024 letter, this was Jassy's most impactful letter to date, presenting the clearest defense and incremental proof points to support the business's direction, the research firm said in its investor note. The firm maintained its ‘Overweight’ rating.Currently, 64 of the 68 analysts covering the AMZN recommend ‘Buy’ or higher, and four recommend ‘Hold,’ per Koyfin. Meanwhile, retail sentiment around IGV on Stocktwits improved to ‘neutral’ from ‘extremely bearish’ over the past day, and chatter increased to ‘high’ from ‘low’ levels.&nbsp;Retail sentiment around XLE also improved, but only to ‘bearish’ from ‘extremely bearish’ territory. Chatter remained at ‘normal’ levels.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">‘Inflation Shock’ Is Still In The Making, Says Tom Lee</h2>Despite his constructive view on equities, Lee cautioned that inflation pressures have not fully worked through the system. “There’s still a shock rippling through the economy,” he said. “I think there’s an inflation shock still coming.”He compared the potential impact to a wave, noting uncertainty around its magnitude and timing. “We just don’t know the amplitude,” Lee said, adding that markets may still need to adjust depending on how the shock develops.According to him, the recent uncertainty caused by the U.S.-Iran war led alot of market repositioning. “Something like 70% of the S&amp;P has been through a rolling bear market. The summer&nbsp;lull&nbsp;won’t be as deep,” Lee stated. BofA analyst Justin Post reiterated a ‘Buy’ rating and $885 price target on the stock following the introduction of Muse Spark, the inaugural LLM from Meta Superintelligence Labs.&nbsp;The target implies a 44.5% upside from the stock’s current level.
