Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

This means that Dogecoin could get left behind and is why Shibas are leaving Dogecoin to join more advanced platforms like Ethereum. One of Dogecoin strengths is its relaxed and fun-loving community. However, this is also a weakness because other currencies are way more professional. (BTE) is setting the stage for growth in 2026 with a $625 million capital budget and plans to return a significant part of its Eagle Ford sale proceeds to shareholders. Additionally, the announcement of a new leadership signals a shift in priorities for the year ahead.</p><p>Shares of BTE climbed over 2% in Monday's pre-market trade.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Capital Budget Usage</h2><p>Baytex Energy announced a capital budget of $550 to $625 million for 2026, a target of 3% to 5% production growth reaching about 75,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in 2028.</p><p>The company’s 2026 exploration and development budget aims to generate an average annual production of 67,000 to 69,000 boe/d and is expected to deliver 3% to 5% production growth from 2025 levels.</p><p>Of this, about 55% of the budget will be allocated to light oil assets, and the remaining 45% to heavy oil assets, the company said. Production in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026 is expected to average 68,000 to 69,000 boe/d, with plans to scale to 70,000 boe/d at the end of the year. The company also plans to bring 91 heavy-oil wells onstream, with 2026 production averaging 43,000 to 44,000 bbl/d.</p><p>Of the total capital expenses, $50 to $75 million growth capital will be focused on the Pembina Duvernay and northeast Alberta Mannville, $50 million will be directed towards infrastructure investment that will include anchor oil batteries and water infrastructure in the Pembina Duvernay, and gas conservation in Peace River, and another $50 million will go towards exploration and land investments, the company said.</p><p>"Looking ahead, we are targeting 3% to 5% annual production growth while investing in exploration and infrastructure for future development. Supported by our industry-leading net cash balance sheet, we are prioritizing shareholder returns in 2026," Eric T. Greager, Chief Executive Officer of Baytex Energy, said.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Sale Proceeds And Executive Charges</h2><p>Baytex Energy completed the sale of its U.S. Eagle Ford Assets for $2.14 billion on December 19, and plans to return a significant portion of the proceeds to shareholders.</p><p>The company also reaffirmed its annual dividend guidance of $0.09 per share, subject to Board of Directors approval.</p><p>Additionally, the energy company announced that Chad E.
