The project traces its origins back to 2004 with Ryan Fugger before being co-founded in its modern form by Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen. The company, now known as Ripple, works with major financial institutions as partners and investors to build global payment solutions. To protect the network from spam, a small amount of XRP is burned during every transaction, and the token is further utilized by institutions as collateral to access traditional markets and manage digital asset infrastructure.  Institutional adoption of the asset reached a major milestone in November 2025 when the SEC approved the first wave of spot XRP ETFs. These products, offered by major issuers including Bitwise, Grayscale, 21Shares, Canary Capital, and Franklin Templeton, are now listed on prominent exchanges like the NYSE Arca, Nasdaq, and Cboe BZX. The protocol operates on its own blockchain currently using Proof-of-Work consensus, though it's evolving toward Proof-of-Stake through the planned "Crosslink" upgrade to enhance security, scalability, and energy efficiency. Zcash employs trustless zero-knowledge proofs (Halo) within its Orchard shielded pool to verify transactions without revealing sender, receiver, or amount information.   Users can choose between transparent public transactions and shielded private transactions through Unified Addresses, which work with both types. The network is faster and cheaper than Bitcoin, with new blocks mined every 75 seconds and transaction fees typically just a fraction of a cent. Privacy adoption has surged in 2025, with over 30% of total ZEC supply now held in fully shielded pools.  Zcash was created by a group of scientists in 2013 who initially proposed Zerocoin as a privacy extension to Bitcoin before building a standalone protocol. The ecosystem operates with a self-funded development model where block rewards support independent teams through the Zcash Community Grants Committee and a new Coinholder-Controlled Fund.

It employs the Scrypt algorithm to ensure the mining process remains fast and efficient, with new blocks processed every 60 seconds. A unique technical feature is its use of merged mining, allowing miners to secure Dogecoin simultaneously with other Scrypt-based networks like Litecoin.  To keep transaction fees low and the network running indefinitely, Dogecoin features an uncapped supply where new coins are added forever. In a major regulatory milestone in March 2026, a joint SEC and CFTC framework officially classified Dogecoin as a digital commodity, placing it in the same asset category as gold or oil.

This system ensures high throughput and fast finality, where transactions are considered permanent and irreversible within seconds. Key features include a built-in distributed exchange for trading assets without intermediaries and the Soroban platform for developing smart contracts. Users can also utilize the network for tokenizing real-world assets or accessing decentralized finance services like peer-to-peer lending.  Stellar's native token, XLM, is essential for maintaining network integrity by acting as an intermediary to find efficient exchange paths and preventing spam through small transaction fees and minimum account balance requirements. Unlike many other digital assets, the network has no inflation because the community voted to disable the automatic creation of new tokens. While the project received early funding from the payments company Stripe, it is now sustained by a global community of validators and developers rather than traditional venture capital.

The SUI token is central to the ecosystem, serving as the primary asset for transaction fees and on-chain utility within decentralized exchanges and lending platforms. Users participate in a proof-of-stake mechanism by locking their tokens to support validators and secure the blockchain in exchange for rewards. Additionally, token holders have a role in governance, allowing them to participate in voting on network rules and future protocol upgrades. Value moves through the system through these staking rewards and transaction fees to ensure the platform scales sustainably
