Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Even as the broader market and peers, including startups, took flight,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/LCID">Lucid’s stock</a> was stuck in reverse gear. Shaky industry fundamentals continued to haunt the companies in the space, but their shares weathered the downturn and generated positive returns for investors.&nbsp;What went wrong with Lucid? And how is it positioned for the near term? Most Wall Street firms covering the stock remain on the sidelines. Lucid has become more of a “Show-me” stock as investors and analysts alike seek execution before they can turn more constructive.Of the 10 analysts covering the stock, seven remain on the sidelines, and two are ‘bearish, while one has a ‘Buy’ rating, according to Koyfin. Nevertheless, the analyst remains optimistic about a resurgence. The average analyst price target for the stock is $18.06, implying over 50% upside from Wednesday’s close.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Lucid’s Torrid Stock Run</h2>Year-to-date (YTD), Lucid’s shares have fallen 63%, trading below the flat line for most of the year. Gagan Dhingra had held the post on an interim basis since late 2023, when the then CFO, Sherry House, resigned. In the same month, the company announced that Peter Rawlinson would step down as CEO and be replaced by insider Marc Winterhoff on an interim basis. In early November, the company announced more key organizational changes to accelerate growth.Lucid was quick to raise financing during the year. It completed a $1.1 billion convertible senior note offering in April. Subsequently, the company raised $962 million through a private offering of convertible senior notes. It also received a $500 million investment from Uber, announced as part of a robotaxi collaboration. The three-way partnership among Lucid, Nuro and Uber for a next-generation robotaxi program that envisages deploying 20,000 or more Lucid vehicles over six years in dozens of markets worldwide. The first launch in a major city is planned for 2026.On the product front, the company launched its Gravity SUV in two variants, Touring and Grand Touring, with starting prices of $79,900 and $94,900, respectively.&nbsp;As its stock price teetered, Lucid implemented a 1-for-10 reverse stock split that took effect in late April.<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Retail Feels About Lucid</h2>Retail investors remain skeptical about Lucid’s path forward. On Stocktwits, users held a ‘neutral’ sentiment toward Lucid stock as of early Friday. The company plans to launch its first midsize EVs in 2026, which it categorizes as “Future Vehicles.”Citing Visible Alpha consensus estimates, the firm said Future Vehicles’ ASP will be at $58,040 in 2027 compared to $73,371 for Air and $88,519 for Gravity. Analysts expect unit sales of 18,750 for Future Vehicles in 2027, generating $1.1 billion in revenue.&nbsp; S&amp;P Global is also optimistic&nbsp;about the near term:<blockquote>“Lucid’s overall revenue is projected to climb 60% year-on-year to $1.3 billion in 2025. Lucid’s Moment Of Truth: Luxury EV Hype Meets A Brutal Market — Is The Low-Price Pivot Enough?

Lucid’s stock has badly lagged the broader market and EV peers, reflecting years of revenue stagnation, production challenges, and ongoing losses despite strong financial backing.

After falling nearly 44% in 2024,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/RIVN">Rivian’s stock</a> has gained more than 38% this year, with much of the gains back-end loaded. More importantly, Rivian’s stock gain has outpaced that of its bigger peer and market leader, Tesla, Inc. (TSLA).&nbsp;The Autonomy &amp; AI Day event held on Thursday produced a skeptical reaction from traders. Still, the stock soared over 12% in the very next session as Wall Street analysts’ positive assessment led investors to change their stance. Does the turnaround point toward an inflection in Rivian’s fundamentals? Here’s a deep dive into the year that was for the company:<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rivian’s Accelerating Revenue&nbsp;</h2>Rivian's topline was only about 6% of Tesla’s for the nine months ended September, but it outperformed Tesla in year-over-year (YoY) growth. The third quarter, notably, saw a scorching pace of development (78%), driven by strong software and services and automotive revenue. The company plans to release an end-to-end “Large Driving Model,” and the hands-free driving feature will be updated this month. It has also developed an in-house chip to process data from the road and feed the AI model that powers its self-driving.Delving into the AI-centric approach, Scaringe said:<blockquote>“Our approach to building self-driving is really designed around this data flywheel. We're a deployed fleet, has a carefully designed data policy that allows us to identify important and interesting events that we can use to train our large model offline, before distilling the model back down into the vehicle.”</blockquote>Following the event, Goldman Sachs raised its price target for Rivian stock to $16 from $13 but kept a ‘Neutral’ rating, according to The Fly. The event underscored how Rivian views the vehicle as a platform for high-margin software, with future opportunities in advanced autonomy, third-party integrations, and potentially broader licensing, the firm said.Needham, which has a ‘Buy’ rating on the stock, upped the price target to $23 from $14. Analysts at the firm said the event increased their confidence in the company’s software-defined vehicles, which are increasingly becoming industry table stakes. They see Rivian's vertical integration allowing for fuller control, driving faster learning and feature iterations across driver interface and autonomy technology, giving it a “durable competitive advantage.”But RBC Capital Markets analysts remained skeptical. The Autonomy+ offering has potential to boost margins, though the low take-rates may persist without an eyes-off solution, the analysts said. Also, the analysts expressed concerns about liquidity and the profitability of the upcoming R2 and R3 models. The executive also reiterated the adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) loss guidance range of $2 billion to $2.25 billion and a roughly breakeven gross profit outlook for the whole year.Rivian is widely expected to launch its next-generation R2 model in the first half of 2026. During the third-quarter earnings call, CEO RJ Scaringe said the R2 is addressing the most significant market opportunity with the right product, given the attractiveness of the addressable market. He noted that the average new vehicle purchase price in the U.S. is now just over $50,000, and the most popular configuration is a 5-seat SUV or crossover.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rivian — A Retail Favorite?</h2>For much of the year, the EV maker has managed to elicit a positive mood from among retailers on the Stocktwits platform, with sentiment to ‘extremely bullish’ levels since its Autonomy &amp; AI Day event. The company is transitioning from a supplier of rare-earth concentrates to a fully integrated producer of rare-earth magnets, moving from mining to processing, precursor materials production, and ultimately high-performance magnets.The Las Vegas, Florida-based company operates in a strategically important industry, prompting the Department of Defense to agree in July to invest $550 million in the company, giving the government a 10% stake.<h2 class="st-heading-2">MP Materials Q3 Snapshot</h2>James Litinsky, founder and CEO of MP Materials, said the company delivered another strong quarter. “This performance underscores the momentum we are building at a pivotal time for our Company and Country,” the executive said.“With key portions of our agreements with the Department of War commencing in the current quarter, we now have enhanced cash flow visibility to accelerate scaled magnet production in the United States—beginning with first commercial output from Independence by year-end.”&nbsp; Independence is the company’s downstream center for the production of rare-earth metals and magnets.On the earnings call, Litinsky said the third quarter was a “game changer,” marking a total acceleration as a “vertically integrated national champion with a transformed economic platform for long-term&nbsp;leadership,” according to the Koyfin transcript.MP Materials’ revenue for the fiscal year 2025 third-quarter revenue fell 15% year over year (YoY) to $53.55 million, marking a slight beat relative to the Fiscal.ai-compiled consensus of $53 million. The quarterly adjusted loss per share narrowed to $0.10 from $0.12, while analysts, on average, had modeled a loss of $0.16 per share.The Materials segment revenue fell 50% YoY to $31.6 million, due to the stoppage of rare earth oxide (REO) sales to third parties in July.
