Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Starbucks (SBUX) announced on Thursday that it’s cutting roughly 900 corporate jobs and closing underperforming North American stores as part of a sweeping cost-reduction and reinvestment plan aimed at reviving its cafes.<a href="http://stocktwits.com/symbol/SBUX">Starbucks’ stock</a> trimmed early losses to trade down 0.2% pre-market trade, at the time of writing. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around the company improved to ‘neutral’ from ‘bearish territory over the past day.&nbsp;In an 8-K&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/0000829224/000082922425000067/sbux-20250923.htm">filing</a> on Thursday, the coffee chain stated that its board has approved a restructuring plan that will close select company-operated locations and reduce non-retail headcount under its “Back to Starbucks” turnaround strategy. Starbucks Plans 900 Job Cuts, Store Closures With $1 Billion Restructuring Charges

The coffee chain announced that its board has approved a restructuring plan that will close select company-operated locations and reduce non-retail headcount under its “Back to Starbucks” turnaround strategy. 

Tesla (TSLA) has reportedly told staff that it plans to launch its Robotaxi services in San Francisco this weekend.According to a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-robotaxi-bay-area-launch-san-francisco-memo-2025-7">report</a> by Business Insider, the EV maker informed employees that the timeline for the Robotaxi launch had been accelerated and could occur as soon as Friday. The memo to staff also stated that some Tesla owners would be invited to use the services, and users would pay for the Robotaxi rides.&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TSLA">Tesla’s stock</a> edged 0.5% higher in pre-market trade on Friday after plummeting 8.2% in the previous session after its latest quarterly results disappointed. However, Musk asserted that the Robotaxi business would have a “material impact” on Tesla’s business by the end of the year and that the San Francisco Bay Area was the first on his list of expansion markets.&nbsp;He said that the Robotaxis will operate with a safety operator in the front seat during the initial deployment in the Bay Area.According to both reports, the California DMW official said that the company has not yet applied for a permit for driverless testing or deployment. The agency had granted Tesla a permit to provide transportation services for company employees.
