Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Spirit Aviation Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Spirit Airlines, LLC, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/spirit-airlines-announces-senior-leadership-transition-302421594.html">announced</a> changes to its leadership team on Monday.Spirit said that its CEO and President, Ted Christie, will step down from the company and its Board of Directors effective Monday. The company added that the board is in the process of appointing a permanent replacement.Until the new CEO is appointed, an Office of the President has been formed to lead the company until the new CEO is appointed.The office comprises Fred Cromer, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; John Bendoraitis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; and Thomas Canfield, Senior Vice President and General Counsel.The company also said that its Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President Matt Klein will step down and be succeeded immediately by Senior Vice President Rana Ghosh.Spirit Airlines Chairman Robert Milton praised Christie for his contributions.“He has seen a lot and done a lot during his tenure here, including navigating the Company through the COVID crisis and multiple strategic junctures, as well as most recently, a corporate restructuring. Spirit Airlines Announces Leadership Transition, CEO Ted Christie Steps Down

Spirit Airlines (SAVEQ) garnered retail attention on Thursday after a court approved its plan to exit bankruptcy by converting $795 million in debt to equity and emerge as a privately owned company.The company said it expects to emerge from restructuring in the coming weeks following the approval of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York to hand over the airline to creditors.According to court documents, Spirit’s creditors include Citadel Advisors, Pacific Investment Management, and UBS Asset Management.The plan, proposed in November, also entails an equity investment of $350 million in Spirit and the issuance of $840 million in fresh secured debt to its bondholders.“As we move forward, our leadership team remains focused on reducing costs while also advancing our strategic initiatives to transform our Guest experience and position Spirit for success," CEO Ted Christie said.Thursday’s ruling comes after Frontier Airlines sought to buy Spirit earlier this year by issuing $400 million debt and a 19% stake. Spirit termed the offer as non-compelling and rejected it.Frontier had first agreed to buy Spirit in 2022, but the deal did not take place after rival JetBlue made a better offer. Spirit Airlines To Go Private After Court Approves Restructuring Plan, Retail Expresses Disappointment 

The company said it expects to emerge from restructuring in the coming weeks.

Spirit Airlines (SAVEQ) and Frontier Group Holdings Inc (ULCC) garnered retail attention on Wednesday after the former rejected Frontier's slightly modified buyout offer.Spirit said that on Feb. 4, it received a new proposal from Frontier, essentially the same as its <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/spirit-airlines-rejects-frontier-merger-proposal/chbAkK8Rpx">earlier offer</a> of $400 million in debt and a 19% stake in Frontier.However, the new offer did not require Spirit to complete its previously announced $350 million equity rights offering. But it needed a waiver of the Bankruptcy Court-approved $35 million termination fee.“The new proposal did not address certain material risks and issues previously identified by the company, including that the new proposal would deliver less in value to the company's stakeholders than contemplated by the company's existing plan of reorganization,” Spirit said in a statement.The airline company said it had submitted a counterproposal to Frontier, which was rejected.Frontier first agreed to buy Spirit in 2022, but the deal did not take place after rival JetBlue made a better offer. Investing.com--   Spirit Airlines   Inc (OTC:SAVEQ) has declined a renewed acquisition proposal from   Frontier Group Holdings   Inc (NASDAQ:ULCC), opting to proceed with its existing restructuring plan, the company announced on Tuesday.

Frontier Group Holdings Inc (ULCC) shares received a price target hike by Barclays on Monday after the company <a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/frontier-group-stock-soars-after-record-quarterly-revenue/chPzoS0Rsz">reported</a> a better-than-expected fourth-quarter earnings report.According to The Fly, Barclays raised its price target on Frontier Group to $14 from $10 while keeping an ‘Overweight’ rating on the shares. The new price target implies a 50% upside from the stock’s closing price on Friday.The brokerage highlighted that Frontier’s stronger unit revenue performance aids a more bullish margin outlook for 2025. Barclays also noted that although the management remains interested in a merger with Spirit, it maintains its focus on driving core earnings improvement.On Friday, Frontier reported a 12% rise in its total operating revenue to a record billion dollars compared to a Wall Street estimate of $986.50 million. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.23 compared to an analyst estimate of $0.13.Net income for the quarter was $54 million, compared to a net loss of $37 million in the same quarter a year ago.Revenue per available seat mile (RASM) rose 15% year-over-year (YoY) to $0.1023 during the quarter. The firm said this was primarily driven by its capacity deployment focused on peak days of the week, continued progress on the revenue and network initiatives, and the overall moderation in industry capacity growth.CEO Barry Biffle said in an <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.cnbc.com/video/2025/02/07/frontier-group-ceo-focus-on-loyalty-and-premiumization-has-enabled-us-to-exceed-expectations.html">interview</a> with CNBC that the premiumization and the focus on loyalty are starting to take effect. “That enabled us to exceed expectations in the fourth quarter,” he said.In late January, Spirit Airlines Inc (SAVEQ) had rejected Frontier's new merger offer.Frontier’s proposal involved combining with Spirit in a transaction that provides for the issuance of $400 million principal amount of debt by the firm and 19% of its common equity at the closing of the transaction, to be distributed to the holders of senior secured notes, 2025 convertible notes, 2026 convertible notes, and existing interests. Frontier Group Stock Scores Barclays Price Target Boost, Retail Optimism Stays High
