(NTNX) shares plunged more than 16% in Tuesday’s extended session after the enterprise cloud platform provider reported mixed results and issued a downbeat forecast, citing a shift in revenue recognition to future periods.&nbsp;If the after-hours losses are sustained in Wednesday’s regular session, <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/NTNX">Nutanix stock</a> is on track to break below $50 for the first time since August 2024 and record its biggest single-day loss since May 2024.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Nutanix Q1 Earnings Snapshot</h2>San Jose, California-based Nutanix said its adjusted earnings per share (EPS) for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 rose to $0.41 from $0.36 a year ago. The result aligned with the Fiscal.ai-compiled consensus estimate.Revenue grew 13% year over year (YoY) to $670.6 million, slowing from the 19% reported in the previous quarter. The topline missed the consensus estimate of $676.65 million and came in line with the lower end of the company’s forecast issued in late August. The company blamed some of the revenue shift from the quarter into the future periods for the shortfall.Among key metrics, the annual recurring revenue (ARR) rose 18% YoY to $2.28 billion, accelerating from the 17% growth in the fourth quarter of 2025.CEO Rajiv Ramaswami said, “We saw solid demand for our cloud platform in our first quarter, with bookings that were slightly ahead of our expectations, ARR growth of 18% year-over-year, another healthy quarter of new logo additions, and solid free cash flow performance.”The company said first-quarter bookings were slightly higher than expected.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Nutanix’s Outlook</h2>CFO Rukmini Sivaraman, CFO of Nutanix, said the company has factored anticipated revenue pushback into future periods in its second-quarter outlook, while also updating its full-year guidance.&nbsp;Nutanix guided second-quarter revenue to $705 million to $715 million, below the $748.70 million consensus. It expects adjusted operating margin to expand to 20.5%-21.5%. It reduced its full-year revenue outlook to $2.82 billion to $2.86 billion, down from $2.90 billion to $2.94 billion. Shares of software development platform GitLab, Inc. Datadog, a provider of cloud applications monitoring and security platform, had reportedly courted GitLab previously in July 2024.&nbsp;A Reuters report&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/google-backed-software-developer-gitlab-explores-sale-sources-say-2024-07-17/">said</a> then that GitLab worked with investment bankers on a sale process and received takeover interest from peers, including Datadog. The StreetInsider report attributed the renewed interest from Datadog to leadership changes at GitLab and the company's recent strong quarterly performance. The report also noted that Sid Sijbrandij, who retains 51% voting control, would ultimately decide on any sale. Sijbrandij announced his decision to step down as CEO in December last year, giving the reins to former New Relic CEO Bill Staples.Gitlab has a market capitalization of $8.05 billion based on the stock’s closing price of $48.27 on Thursday. This setup is especially useful for powering artificial intelligence (AI) tools.According to the report, though Confluent’s valuable technology has attracted strong interest, the company became a takeover target after its stock dropped in July, following news that it had lost a major customer.The company is expected to report third-quarter results on October 27. Confluent’s Sale Could Bring 30% Premium, Says Raymond James

Raymond James analyst Mark Cash said that Confluent is being eyed as an acquisition target, triggered by compressing valuation multiples and its strategic role in the AI and data ecosystem. 

Confluent, Inc. (CFLT) stock rallied over 19% in the early Wednesday’s premarket session after a report said the data streaming platform company is exploring a sale.&nbsp;The Mountain View, California-based company was working with an investment bank on the sale process, a Reuters exclusive report&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/data-streaming-software-maker-confluent-explores-sale-sources-say-2025-10-08/">stated,</a> citing three people familiar with the matter. The rumored move by the company followed interest from private-equity firms and other technology companies.Confluent provides a new category of data infrastructure, and its cloud-native offering enables real-time data from multiple sources to stream continuously across an organization, primarily for artificial intelligence (AI) models. The company’s relatively attractive valuation may have also triggered the buyout interest. Following <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/CFLT">Confluent stock’s</a> 26% year-to-date (YTD) decline, the company has a valuation of $7.2 billion.&nbsp;The report stated that Confluent’s stock price plummeted in July following the loss of a major customer, rendering the company vulnerable to takeover approaches. Earlier this month, the company announced a new multi-year partnership with the Visa Cash App Raving Bulls Formula 1 team.In a report released on Sept. 30, Wells Fargo initiated coverage of Confluent stock with an ‘Overweight’ rating and a $24 price target, a summary of the note shared by the Fly shows. The research firm views Confluent as the standard for data streaming and believes concerns surrounding Kafka are overblown due to the "vast amount of resources" required to build the infrastructure internally. Wells Fargo stated that Confluent has more high-value customers (greater than $1 million) as it positions itself on the path to $1 billion in annual recurring revenue.&nbsp;On Stocktwits, retail sentiment toward Confluent stock shifted to ‘extremely bullish’ as of early Wednesday, up from ‘bullish’ the day before.
