Speculators, who have been pulling back from the long gold trade in recent weeks, “could see the developments in the Middle East as an opportunity to get back in,” the brokerage added.“A regional spillover or disruption to energy supplies would materially boost gold through higher oil prices, increased inflation expectations and contained real yields,” ING analysts said in a note according to investing.com.UK-based SP Angel told Reuters on Monday that the growing geopolitical fragmentation has led BRIC central banks to trim their holdings of dollar-denominated assets in favor of gold, a trend they expect to persist.Supply disruptions also added to market worries. Over the weekend, President Donald Trump announced&nbsp;a hike in global tariffs from 10% to 15%, which came a day after the Supreme Court struck it down as ‘anti-American.’Spot gold (XAU/USD) climbed 1% higher to $5,154.5 an ounce to its highest since January 30. Contracts expiring in April 2026 jumped 1.7% to $5,167.40 per ounce.Meanwhile, spot silver (XAG/USD) was up 2.3% at $86.6 per ounce, while deliveries for April 2026 were up 4.7% at $86.5 an ounce.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Supreme Court Strikes Down Trump’s Tariffs</h2>On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Trump’s sweeping tariffs, stating that he had exceeded his authority under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).The Supreme Court upheld a lower court's decision, stating that the IEEPA, did not grant Trump the power he claimed to impose tariffs. In response, Trump said he would raise a temporary tariff on U.S. imports to 15% from 10% under Section 122, a separate law that has reportedly never been used. The development is likely to trigger additional legal challenges, adding fresh uncertainty around the future of tariffs.“The price recovery in both gold and silver has likely been assisted by concerns or confusion even over the outlook for tariffs,” independent analyst Ross Norman told Reuters on Monday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">U.S. Dollar Slides On Tariff Uncertainties</h2>The U.S. dollar slid after Trump announced 15% tariffs following the Supreme Court’s decision. The U.S. Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the U.S. dollar against six major currencies, was down 0.1%.“The move triggered a weaker USD, which boosted investor appetite. First Majestic Silver Corp posted a 2025 profit of $211M ($0.34 EPS) versus a $101.9M loss in 2024, fueled by stronger silver prices and output.

At the same time, the USS Abraham Lincoln and nearly 80 aircraft were stationed about 700 kilometers off Iran’s coast, while the USS Gerald Ford carrier group moves toward the region. Tehran is also expected to hold joint naval exercises with Russia later this week.The tensions also drove oil prices higher on Thursday, with Brent Crude futures for April 2026 deliveries climbing 1.3% to $71.3 per barrel. (GPUS) jumped 7% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, after the AI data center company announced plans to launch a strategic silver reserve program to boost its balance sheet.Hyperscale is targeting the acquisition of up to 100,000 ounces of silver over time as part of a broader treasury strategy, it said. Based on the current spot rate (XAG/USD), the total value would be around $7.6 million.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Gradual Accumulation Strategy</h2>Hyperscale Data expects to fund the purchases with capital on hand and other available liquidity sources. The company said it intends to buy silver gradually through a dollar-cost averaging approach, rather than making a single large purchase.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dollar-cost averaging involves investing a fixed amount at regular intervals, regardless of market conditions. Hyperscale follows a similar strategy in building its Bitcoin holdings. The company said it is confident it can secure suitable storage and security solutions for the reserve.“We view silver as a high-conviction, long-duration strategic asset.
