He also said that one sentence would have prevented this record-setting payment from being made.President Trump earlier called the Supreme Court ruling a&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/trump-tariffs-struck-down-by-supreme-court-in-a-6-3-decision/cZRNJbRR4xK">“disgrace”</a> in February this year. Subsequently, he announced a global 10% levy, then raised it to 15%. The new 15% global tariffs can be in place for 150 days before requiring Congressional approval.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Trump Tariff Refund Portal Now Live</h2>The CAPE portal, set up by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, allows businesses and their brokers to file refund claims. This is part of a four-step process that was outlined in March this year by Brandon Lord, the executive director of CBP’s trade policy department.These steps include launching the CAPE portal for filing claims, implementing a processing system, reviewing refund findings, and, lastly, processing refunds electronically to the claimant’s bank account.CBP’s court filings show that more than 330,000 importers paid about $166 billion in tariffs on more than 53 million shipments. Companies will have to submit their claims on the CAPE portal.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Who Qualifies For Trump Tariff Refunds?</h2>According to the CBP, companies that paid tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) are eligible for refunds under the program.Additionally, brokers who paid tariffs under IEEPA on behalf of importers are also eligible for refunds.However, consumers who bought these goods are not eligible for refunds.Businesses will have to register for the CPB’s electronic payment system to file claims. While over 330,000 importers paid tariffs, only 56,497 have completed registration so far, according to CBP.Meanwhile, U.S. equities gained in Wednesday’s opening trade. Once you let inflation take hold in the economy, it’s more expensive and harder to bring it down,” he said at the Senate Banking Committee’s confirmation hearing.Warsh added that the Fed needs fundamental policy reforms to address the issue, noting that although inflation has eased from recent highs, ordinary Americans are still reeling from higher prices.Meanwhile, U.S. equities gained in Wednesday’s opening trade. (TSLA) will have to spend a lot more on capital expenditure, but added that the company’s cash flow position is a little tight.During an interview with CNBC, Meeks stated ahead of Tesla’s first quarter (Q1) earnings later today that the company is currently caught in the crosshairs, pointing to its declining electric vehicle sales.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/TSLA">Tesla shares</a> were up nearly 1% in Wednesday’s pre-market trade.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Meeks Says It’s A ‘Little Scary’</h2>Meeks added that Tesla’s current position is a “little scary,” noting that investors will want to see some stabilization in the company’s EV business.“Tesla is in the crosshairs. It’s a little scary to me, because you have the declining EV business… of course at this point, I don’t think anyone really cares about the EVs, but you do want to see them stabilized if you’re interested in the auto gross margin,” Meeks said.The analyst added that with Tesla’s Q1 earnings due later today, he is looking for some milestones on autonomy. He thinks Tesla’s autonomy development is more important than its humanoid robotics, which is further down the line.Analysts at Cantor Fitzgerald termed 2026 as a transitional year for Tesla, according to TheFly. The firm cited Tesla&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/tsla-stock-slumps-as-tesla-q1-deliveries-miss-estimates/cZ7xMm3RI8g">missing</a> Wall Street expectations with its Q1 deliveries and energy deployments. Cantor analysts stated that the focus is now shifting to initiatives such as Robotaxi, Optimus, and expanded deployments of Tesla’s autonomous driving technology in Europe.Cantor has an ‘Overweight’ rating on the Tesla stock, with a $510 price target.Analysts at Jefferies cautioned that Tesla’s Q1 results will show that the company’s ambition to offer Robotaxi services to 25-50% of the U.S. market by the end of the year “look beyond reach.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">What Does Tesla Need To Do To Be A Next-Gen Leader?</h2>Meeks explained that Tesla needs to ramp up its capex if it wants to be a leader in the next-generation technologies.“They’re going to have to spend a hell of a lot more on capital expenditures, even way beyond the EV business,” he said.However, it won’t be an easy task for Tesla. Meeks pointed to Tesla’s operating cash flow getting tighter due to the company’s current capex, after the company spent $2.4 billion in the previous quarter.The analyst added that he is worried that if Tesla ramps up capex significantly, it will put the company’s free cash flow in the deeply negative territory.Earlier this week, The Future Fund LLC Managing Partner Gary Black&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/tesla-peg-valuation-gary-black-ahead-q1-earnings-robotaxi-competition/cZBd9tLRIyU">warned</a> that Tesla’s valuations are “too rich”, adding that that stocks cannot maintain price-to-earnings multiples of more than 200 unless their franchises are uniquely scalable and unassailable. Tesla’s 12-month forward PE is currently at 192.Tesla is scheduled to report its Q1 earnings on April 22, 2026. They expect further improvement in the fourth quarter (Q4), helping the company notch ASP gains and margin expansion.The firm stated that storage stocks are cyclical in nature, and the longer-term downcycle has been pushed to at least late 2028, adding that Western Digital's near-term fundamentals remain solid and supported by demand dynamics.Analysts at BofA hiked their price target for Western Digital last week to $415 from $375, while keeping a ‘Buy’ rating on the stock. The firm cited strong demand for memory as the driver for pricing and gross margin strength.JPMorgan analysts also hiked their price target for WDC to $400 from $320, while keeping an ‘Overweight’ rating on the stock. Nasdaq, S&P 500 Futures Climb Amid Fragile Iran Truce: Why TSLA, IBM, ADBE, DJT Are Keeping Traders Engaged Today

Data from Stocktwits shows that retail positioning has remained firmly ‘bullish’ for SPY and QQQ this week. 

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>The veteran investor believes the physical markets are on the right track.&nbsp;</li><li>When paper oil prices catch up to physical prices, the repricing will be violent, according to Noble.&nbsp;</li><li>Meanwhile, oil prices have been swinging wildly amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.</li></ul>As markets grapple with uncertainty about the outcome of the war in Iran and its impact on global energy prices, a former associate of legendary investor Peter Lynch is betting on energy stocks.“Energy stocks remain the most asymmetric trade in this market,” said George Noble, a hedge fund veteran and former Fidelity fund manager, in a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://x.com/gnoble79/status/2046603397533511746">post</a> on X on late Tuesday.The investor highlighted the pricing difference between physical oil markets (spot oil, tanker bookings, actual delivery) and paper markets (futures contracts, options, financial instruments), saying that while the former was pricing in a war, the latter was pricing in a peace deal. “One of them is WRONG,” Noble said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Noble Backs This Indicator</h2>The veteran investor believes the physical markets are on the right track. To back his claim, Noble pointed out that 230 loaded oil tankers were stuck in the Persian Gulf amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, where traffic had dropped by over 90%.He noted that normally 15 to 20 million barrels per day flowed through the critical waterway, but at present, alternatives via Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline can only handle about 9 million barrels per day, creating a massive gap with no real workaround.“You cannot close a gap that large with infrastructure that doesn't exist,” he said. “You cannot load 15 million barrels per day onto trucks. There is no land bridge for hydrocarbons. The pipelines are maxed. The tankers are parked,” he added.Noble also said that two separate battles were unfolding now — one the global supply chain has already adapted to, and another it simply can’t. Yet paper oil markets were trading as if that divide didn’t exist, he said.Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the U.S. was extending a ceasefire with Iran, although the blockage of Iranian ports would continue.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Wild Market Swings</h2>Oil prices have been swinging sharply, spiking on any hints of escalation in tensions between the U.S. and Iran, while pulling back on signs of renewed negotiations or ceasefire announcements. Energy stocks have been tracking the wild oscillations.The <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/uso">United States Oil Fund</a> (USO), an exchange-traded fund that tracks the daily price changes of West Texas Intermediate, has been whipsawing in tandem.<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/koyfin_20260422_100526996_png_4aaa028a13.webp" alt="koyfin_20260422_100526996.png" width="2400" height="1240"><figcaption>Source: Koyfin</figcaption></figure>Meanwhile, the <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/XLE">State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF</a> (XLE), which tracks American energy companies within the S&amp;P 500, has diverged significantly from the S&amp;P 500 since the start of the war — initially outperforming the benchmark index at the onset of the Hormuz crisis and finally lagging in after signs of a ceasefire and diplomatic breakthroughs.<figure class="image"><img src="https://news.stocktwits-cdn.com/koyfin_20260422_110224623_png_e3a9e341bd.webp" alt="koyfin_20260422_110224623.png" width="2400" height="1500"><figcaption>Source: Koyfin</figcaption></figure>Shares of major energy stocks have also been fluctuating. For instance, <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/batl">Battalion Oil Corp.</a> (BATL) shares surged more than 38% at the close on Tuesday amid soaring crude oil prices, as uncertainty around an expansion of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire lingered. However, after Trump announced an extension late Tuesday, oil prices declined, pulling BATL's stock down by nearly 13% in overnight trading.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/cvx">Chevron Corp.</a> (CVX) stock, meanwhile, was up 10.78% in the first month after the war, but has since pared most of those gains, declining about 10% so far this month. <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/xom">Exxon Mobil Corp</a>. (XOM) and <a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/cop">ConocoPhillips</a> (COP) have also followed similar trajectories.When paper oil prices catch up to physical prices, “the repricing will be VIOLENT,” Noble said.The United States Oil Fund ETF (USO) has gained nearly 86% so far this year, while the P<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/uco">roShares Ultra Bloomberg Crude Oil ETF</a> (UCO) has surged more than 115% in the same time.
