Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

<ul class="summary-bullets"><li>XPeng confirmed refreshed G6 and G9 SUVs will use its self-developed Turing AI chip and debut at a Thursday launch event.</li><li>The update follows earlier price cuts and comes as the company expands model launches across China and Europe.</li><li>The company has signaled increased R&amp;D investment in 2026.</li></ul><p>Shares of XPeng slipped nearly 3% in Hong Kong on Wednesday after the Chinese EV maker&nbsp;announced a Tesla-like shift, saying it will replace Nvidia’s autonomous-driving hardware used in earlier versions of its G6 and G9 SUVs with its in-house Turing AI chip.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>New SUV Updates And AI Chip Shift</strong></h2><p>XPeng said the refreshed G6 and G9 will debut at its Thursday launch event in China, alongside the previously announced updated P7+ sedan and the extended-range electric vehicle version of its G7 SUV. The company did not provide detailed specifications for the updated G6 and G9, but confirmed both will use its self-developed Turing AI chip, according to a&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://cnevpost.com/2026/01/07/xpeng-to-also-launch-updated-g6-g9-jan-8/">report</a> by CnEVPost.</p><p>Older versions of the G6 and G9 relied on Nvidia’s autonomous driving chips. The G7, launched in July 2025, marked XPeng’s first model equipped with the Turing chip, with its Ultra variant featuring three chips. Two of those chips were dedicated to autonomous driving,&nbsp;while one was&nbsp;for supporting in-cabin services.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Guangzhou And Brussels Launches&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>The China launch event is scheduled in Guangzhou, where XPeng is headquartered, while the European launch of the updated P7+ and G7 EREV is set for Friday in Brussels.</p><p>The G6 and G9 last received updates in March 2025, when XPeng cut starting prices by nearly 12% for the G6 and about 6% % for the G9. In the first 11 months of 2025, the G6 delivered 71,471 units, up nearly 49% year over year, while the G9 delivered 25,169 units, a roughly 2% increase.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>CEO Signals R&amp;D Boost In 2026</strong></h2><p>XPeng CEO Xiaopeng He said the company&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/x-peng-ceo-signals-aggressive-r-and-d-push-in-2026-after-full-cycle-of-challenges/cL7BOfqRECP">will increase investment in research and development in 2026</a>, describing the move as the next phase of a long technological journey following years of operational and financial challenges.</p><p>He added that XPeng has begun to see early signs of progress in its longer-term push toward Physical AI, without providing specific product details or timelines.</p><p>XPeng’s shift toward in-house AI chips mirrors steps taken by Tesla, which is designing its own AI hardware to reduce reliance on Nvidia. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also said the company may need to build a “gigantic” chip fabrication plant to meet future demand for autonomous driving and robotics.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Buy Rating Fails To Lift Shares&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>The Hong Kong pullback came despite a recent upgrade from Freedom Capital, which raised XPeng to a 'Buy' rating with a $25 price target, implying a 24% upside to the stock's last close in the U.S.&nbsp; Freedom cited positive performance trends and added that innovation enabled the launch of the low-cost Mona sub-brand, driving revenue growth. Duan added that whether Nvidia’s model performs at production-grade levels across real-world edge cases remains an open question until it is tested on the road at scale.</p><p>Her comments come as Nvidia broadens its autonomous driving push alongside new AI hardware. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips are in full production and highlighted Alpamayo, a suite of autonomous driving models, simulation tools and datasets designed to help vehicles reason through complex road scenarios.&nbsp;</p><p>Nvidia said Alpamayo and the data used to train it will be released more broadly so automakers can evaluate performance.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Training Spend And Long-Term Economics</strong></h2><p>Duan said Tesla’s self-driving training spend is estimated at $3 billion - $4 billion in fiscal 2024, with roughly $5 billion per year likely required to sustain its edge. She said these constraints are expected to change over time and added that Chinese automakers do not face the same limitations.</p><p>Duan also said broader access to autonomy platforms could have implications for ride-hailing-style networks such as Uber and Lyft.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Tesla’s Chip Roadmap&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>Duan’s remarks come alongside Tesla’s ongoing work on custom AI hardware. Musk said Tesla combines that spending with its own AI4 chips to process large volumes of video data, adding that without its own chips, the company would likely need to spend double that amount.</p><p>He also pointed to Tesla’s manufacturing scale, saying the company is producing around 2 million vehicles a year and rising, each equipped with a dual system-on-chip AI4 setup, eight cameras, redundancy in steering actuation and other systems, along with high-bandwidth communication.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Nvidia’s Alpamayo And The ‘Long Tail’ Debate</strong></h2><p>Musk’s comments followed Nvidia’s recent launch of Alpamayo, a family of autonomous driving AI models, simulation tools and datasets aimed at addressing rare and complex driving scenarios using reasoning-based approaches.</p><p>Musk said he was “not losing any sleep” over the launch and added that he genuinely hopes Nvidia’s effort succeeds. He said whether Tesla’s system explicitly incorporates reasoning is secondary to the broader challenge Musk highlighted, noting that achieving the first 99% of autonomous capability is difficult, while solving the long tail is even harder.</p><p>Huang said Nvidia’s approach is also vision-based, supplemented with radar and lidar, and described Tesla’s system as state-of-the-art. He said Tesla’s stack is hard to compare with others and said he would not criticize it, instead encouraging Tesla to continue its current approach.</p><h2 class="st-heading-2"><strong>Tesla-Nvidia Ties Extend Beyond Autonomy</strong></h2><p>Nvidia is among the investors in Elon Musk’s xAI, which said on Tuesday that it completed an upsized Series E funding round,&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/musk-xai-raises-20-billion-dollars-in-series-e-funding-round/cmxD4CPR4cT">raising $20 billion</a> and exceeding its $15 billion target.</p><p>xAI said Nvidia, alongside other investors, is supporting the rapid scaling of its compute infrastructure and the buildout of what it described as the world’s largest GPU clusters.
