Miners today are mining Bitcoin using ASIC chip dedicated to only mining Bitcoin, and the hash rate has shot up to peta hashes.  Being the first successful online cryptography currency, Bitcoin has inspired other alternative currencies such as Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, and so on.  The cryptocurrency then took off with the innovation of the turing-complete smart contract by Ethereum which led to the development of other amazing projects such as EOS, Tron, and even crypto-collectibles such as CryptoKitties.

VinFast Hits Pause On US Plant, But Is Betting Big On India With $200M Lifeline

The company is leaning harder into Asian markets with new factories in India and Indonesia and fresh backing from founder Pham Nhat Vuong.

Retail chatter picked up around VinFast Auto late Sunday after the Vietnamese carmaker rolled out its first electric SUVs in India, unveiling the compact VF6 and the larger VF7, in a market that’s fast becoming a global EV hotspot.Prices start at ₹16.49 lakh ($19,800) for the VF6 and ₹20.89 lakh ($25,000) for the VF7, with customers able to reserve one for a refundable ₹21,000. Deliveries are expected later this year.&nbsp;Both models come with complimentary charging and maintenance until 2028 and feature panoramic sunroofs as standard.&nbsp;The SUVs&nbsp;come with warranties of seven years for the VF6 and 10 years for the VF7, offering ranges of up to 532 km (ARAI-certified) and features including vegan leather interiors, 12.9-inch displays, ADAS Level 2, and modes such as Pet Mode and Camp Mode.Local assembly will take place at VinFast’s planned Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, which will also serve as an export hub for South Asia. The company has lined up 13 dealer partners to establish 32 outlets across 27 cities, supported by service and charging tie-ups with RoadGrid, myTVS, Global Assure, and BatX Energies.VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau said the launch represented “cars made by Indians, for Indians,” reflecting the company’s focus on combining global expertise with local manufacturing.VinFast’s India debut comes as Asian automakers expand across the region amid rising trade barriers in the U.S. The International Energy Agency estimates Chinese automakers accounted for more than 70% of global EV production in 2024, with BYD leading the push.BYD began production at its first Southeast Asian plant in Thailand in July 2024 and announced a CKD assembly plant in Malaysia in August, due to start in 2026. Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup is making big infrastructure moves at home while its electric vehicle unit, VinFast, looks abroad, especially to India, for growth and manufacturing scale.In the latest filing, Vingroup stated that it will invest approximately $14.3 billion (373.84 trillion dong) in the construction of a large seaport and logistics center in the northern port city of Haiphong, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-08-04/vingroup-plans-to-build-14-3-billion-port-logistics-center">reported</a>.Construction work will take place in three phases from 2026 to 2040. The company expects to fund 15% of the project using its own capital and raise the remaining 85% from external sources.&nbsp;The move adds to Vingroup’s broader expansion plans.&nbsp;In April, Vingroup broke ground on a coastal tourism and urban development complex near Ho Chi Minh City, with an investment capital of approximately 282.8 trillion dong. Vingroup is doubling down on infrastructure and clean energy, while VinFast is positioning its India plant as a future export hub with early orders from Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Mauritius. 

Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast (VFS) announced its first authorized dealership in California on Wednesday, as it seeks to expand sales through a network of dealerships. &nbsp;The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/vinfast-signs-first-dealership-in-california-302484898.html">new dealership</a>, situated in San Diego, is set to officially begin operations this month. California consumers can explore, test drive, purchase, or lease VinFast's VF 8, a 5-passenger electric mid-size SUV, and the VF 9 full-size, 3-row, 7-passenger electric SUV.While the VF8 starts at $39,900, the VF9 starts at $62,900.The Vietnamese EV maker is accelerating the development of its dealership network across the U.S. California is key to this expansion because of the state’s significant EV growth potential, the company said. The firm is also seeking and evaluating opportunities with other potential dealerships throughout California.VinFast introduced a dealership sales model in late 2023 and recently decided to fully transition to a franchise dealership model in all 50 states.The company has an established network of more than 30 authorized dealerships, with a strong presence across 15 key states in the U.S., including Texas, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, and New York.Earlier this month, VinFast reported a surge in first-quarter revenue while losses widened. Total revenue in the quarter jumped about 150% to $656.5 million, while net loss in the period increased 20% year-over-year to $712.4 million.The company, however, maintained its target to at least double its global deliveries in 2025. Vietnamese EV maker VinFast Auto (VFS) on Monday reported a surge in first-quarter revenue while losses widened.Total revenue in the quarter jumped about 150% to $656.5 million, above an analyst estimate of $521 million, as per Koyfin data.Revenue growth was driven by an increase in EV sales volumes, primarily due to growth in the Vietnam market and contributions from new overseas markets, the company stated. EV deliveries rose 296% year-on-year (YoY) to 36,330 in the period, while E-scooter deliveries rose 473% YoY.Net loss in the period was $712.4 million, representing an increase of 20% from the first quarter of 2024.Diluted net loss per ordinary share in the period came in at $0.30, compared with a loss of $0.25 in the first quarter of 2024, and above an estimated loss of $0.28.VinFast Chairwoman Madam Thuy Le noted that deliveries in the quarter exceeded the company’s total deliveries for the first half of 2024, despite the first quarter (Q1) typically being the slowest quarter of the year.The company maintains its target to at least double its global deliveries in 2025.
