Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

The ongoing discussion reflects a debate between its proven utility and the evolving demands of the broader crypto market.

The Stellar network is an open source, distributed, and community owned network used to facilitate cross-asset transfers of value. Stellar aims to help facilitate cross-asset transfer of value at a fraction of a penny while aiming to be an open financial system that gives people of all income levels access to low-cost financial services. Stellar can handle exchanges between fiat-based currencies and between cryptocurrencies. Stellar.org, the organization that supports Stellar, is centralized like XRP and meant to handle cross platform transactions and micro transactions like XRP. However, unlike Ripple, Stellar.org is non-profit and their platform itself is open source and decentralized.   Stellar was founded by Jed McCaleb in 2014. Jed McCaleb is also the founder of Mt. Gox and co-founder of Ripple, launched the network system Stellar with former lawyer Joyce Kim. Stellar is also a payment technology that aims to connect financial institutions and drastically reduce the cost and time required for cross-border transfers. In fact, both payment networks used the same protocol initially.  Distributed Exchange Through the use of its intermediary currency Lumens (XLM), a user can send any currency that they own to anyone else in a different currency.  For instance, if Joe wanted to send USD to Mary using her EUR, an offer is submitted to the distributed exchange selling USD for EUR. This submitted offer forms is known as an order book. The network will use the order book to find the best exchange rate for the transaction in-order to minimize the fee paid by a user.  This multi-currency transaction is possible because of "Anchors". Anchors are trusted entities that hold people’s deposits and can issue credit. In essence, Anchors serves as the bridge between different currencies and the Stellar network.  Lumens (XLM) Lumens are the native asset (digital currency) that exist on the Stellar network that helps to facilitate multi-currency transactions and prevent spams. For multi-currency transactions, XLM is the digital intermediary that allows for such a transaction to occur at a low cost.  In-order to prevent DoS attacks (aka spams) that would inevitably occur on the Stellar network, a small fee of 0.00001 XLM is associated with every transaction that occurs on the network. This fee is small enough so it does not significantly affect the cost of transaction, but large enough so it dissuades bad actors from spamming the network.   Prior to Protocol 12, Stellar had a built-in inflation mechanism conceived to allow account holders to collectively direct inflation-generated lumens toward projects built on Stellar.  As the network evolved and grew, it became increasingly clear that inflation wasn’t working as intended — account holders either didn’t set their inflation destination or joined inflation pools to claim the inflation themselves, and the operational costs associated with inflation payments continued to rise — and so a protocol change to disable inflation was proposed, implemented, voted on by validators, and ultimately adopted as part of a network upgrade. Discovery title that enjoyed a strong domestic run.The Brad Pitt-starrer "F1: The Movie", a high-octane Formula 1 racing drama produced by Apple and distributed by Warner Bros., became the actor’s highest-grossing film and helped draw moviegoers back into theaters.Did these major releases help revive the box office — and, in turn, lift theater chains?&nbsp;Let's take a closer look.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Rocky Ride Post COVID</h2>The COVID-19 pandemic kept theaters shuttered for much of 2020, with domestic box office receipts plunging more than 80%. Since then, the recovery has been uneven. AMC CEO Adam Aron announced this week that his company is collaborating with Netflix to show the series finale of "Stranger Things 5" in 200 U.S. theaters on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.&nbsp;In early October, AMC rode the Taylor Swift hype by screening the singer's "The Official Release Party of A Showgirl” as a weekend-only movie.Still, theater attendance continues to face heavy pressure from streaming platforms. (SNAP) will start verifying users’ ages in Australia this week, following the local government’s decision to ban social usage for users aged 16 years or under.Snap stock has lost nearly 30% this year, as the social media company suffers from competitive pressure, challenges with ad platform monetization and the inability to achieve profitability.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Regulatory Setback</h2>In a statement released on Saturday, the company said its users will be prompted to tap ‘Verify Your Age,’ and that the age can be verified through a connection with the Australian bank account, or with a government-issued identification card, or by taking a selfie, which its third-party service provider would use to estimate an age range.The move was to comply with Australia’s “Social Media Minimum Age Act,” which restricts the use of platforms it deems social media to those 16 years of age or older. The government has classified Snapchat as an “Age-Restricted Social Media Platform.The new law requires the lockdown of all users' accounts under 16 years, beginning Dec. 10.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Snap Disagrees</h2>Communicating its view, Snap said it strongly disagrees with Australia’s assessment, contending that it has always been a visual messaging app that connects its community with its closest friends and family.&nbsp;However, Snap said it will comply with the new regulation, as it always does with local laws in the countries where it operates. “However, disconnecting teens from their friends and family doesn’t make them safer — it may push them to less safe, less private messaging apps,” the company said. “We continue to advocate for more privacy-conscious solutions, such as mandating age verification at the device, operating system, or app store level.”<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why It’s Important</h2>Snap’s shares received a boost earlier this month from the company’s announcement of a deal with artificial intelligence (AI) startup Perplexity and its better-than-expected third-quarter results.According to Global Statistics, the 13-17-year age group&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.theglobalstatistics.com/snapchat-global-users-statistics/?utm_source=chatgpt.com#google_vignette">accounted</a> for roughly 18% of its total user base globally.&nbsp;Snap stock is seen up about 1% in overnight hours, according to Yahoo Finance. Trade Desk Down 64% This Year – Is The Stock Flashing A Buy Signal?

Trade Desk stock has been stifled by concerns about the company’s ability to sustain growth amid competitive threats.

Snap also reported better-than-expected quarterly results&nbsp;and announced a buyback program.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/SNAP">Snap stock,</a> however, is down over 32% year-to-date.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Snap’s Perplexity Deal</h2>Santa Monica, California-based Snap said that through the partnership, Perplexity’s AI-powered answer engine will be directly integrated into Snapchat, beginning in early 2026. This gives “Snapchat’s community of nearly 1 billion monthly active users a new way to ask questions, explore topics they care about, and learn about the world,” the companies said.“Under the agreement, Perplexity will pay Snap $400 million over one year, through a combination of cash and equity, as we achieve global rollout. Revenue from the partnership is expected to begin contributing in 2026,” a statement read.CEO Evan Spiegel sees the partnership as fulfilling the company’s goal of making “AI more personal, social, and fun – woven into the fabric of your friendships, Snaps, and conversations.”Perplexity CEO Arvind Srinivas said, “Millions of people connect and discover the world through Snapchat. By bringing Perplexity to Snapchat, we’re able to serve that curiosity directly where it occurs.”The Perplexity partnership comes at a time&nbsp;when Snap is struggling with losses amid competition from larger peers and a less robust advertising environment. Incidentally, Perplexity had offered to buy Google’s Chrome, while it was feared that the search giant might have to divest the browser as part of an&nbsp;antitrust case. Google has since then been cleared to keep its browser.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Snap Q3 Results</h2>For the third quarter of the fiscal year 2025, Snap reported a net loss of $0.06 per share, narrower than the year-ago’s $0.09. Quarterly revenue climbed 10% year over year (YoY) to $1.51 billion. The results were better than the consensus estimates, which forecast a loss of $0.12 per share and revenue of $1.49 billion, according to Stocktwits. The revenue growth was aided by growth in direct response advertising revenue, underpinned by strong demand for its “Pixel Purchase” and “App Purchase”&nbsp;ad optimization&nbsp;tools, as well as continued strength from the small and medium business (SMB) segments, according to Koyfin’s transcript.The adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased to $182 million from $132 million, and the company generated free cash flow of $93 million compared to the $72 million in the year-ago quarter. Among user metrics, daily active users (DAUs) increased 8% YoY to 477 million, and monthly active users (MAUs) climbed 7% to 943 million.&nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Snap’s Capital Return To Shareholders</h2>The company said its board has authorized a stock buyback program worth up to $500 million. “The goal of the program is to utilize the company’s strong balance sheet to opportunistically offset a portion of the dilution related to the issuance of restricted stock units to employees as part of the overall compensation program designed to foster an ownership culture,” Snap said.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Snap’s Q4 Outlook</h2>On the earnings call, CFO Derek Andersen said fourth-quarter revenue is expected to be between $1.68 billion and $1.71 billion, versus the Fiscal.ai-compiled estimate of $1.69 billion. He also flagged a modest sequential rise in infrastructure cost. It guided adjusted EBITDA to $280 million to $310 million.
