Validators stake ETH as collateral to propose and validate blocks, earning rewards for honest participation while facing penalties for malicious behavior. The EIP-1559 upgrade introduced a dynamic base fee mechanism that burns ETH with each transaction, creating deflationary pressure during high network activity when more ETH is burned than issued to validators.  Vitalik Buterin proposed Ethereum in 2013, but seven co-founders helped build it, including Gavin Wood who created Solidity and the EVM technical specification, and Joseph Lubin who founded ConsenSys. The project launched in July 2015 after raising over $18 million through crowdfunding, quickly becoming the largest blockchain developer community. Major milestones include the 2020 Beacon Chain launch, the 2021 London hard fork implementing fee burning, and the 2022 Merge to Proof of Stake. Shares closed nearly 3% higher on Wednesday.&nbsp;</p><p>"So while weakened dollar is relatively neutral to our overall operating leverage, we do expect a couple of percentage points of impact on both revenue and expense on a year over year basis. So you want to take that into consideration in a little extra color there. So overall, to wrap up, you know, results are expected to be better than what we envisioned for the first quarter back in January,” the executive said.&nbsp;</p><p>“We remain confident in our ability to deliver another year of positive total operating leverage and pre-tax margin expansion across a range of scenarios, and we'll have a lot more to say and share on our full year expectations when we get back together again in about a month in mid-April to talk about the Q1 results,” executive added.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Q1 2026 Revenue</h2><p>State Street during the conference said that it expects its current quarter revenue to grow in ‘low teens’ compared to the year-ago quarter.&nbsp;</p><p>"Right now, we're currently expecting the first quarter total revenue to increase in the low teens on a year over year basis, supported by similar growth in both fees and NII. And for the quarter, importantly, we expect to generate roughly 400 basis points of total operating leverage," he added.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">STT Q4 Earnings</h2><p>State Street reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.97 for the&nbsp;fourth quarter, surpassing analyst estimates of $2.78 per share. The agreement allows the company to access up to $5.25 billion in advances and replaces its previous 364-Day Credit Agreement of the same amount, as per a <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.sec.gov/ix?doc=/Archives/edgar/data/0001744489/000119312526088356/d116769d8k.htm">filing</a> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.&nbsp;</p><p>The 364-Day Credit Agreement will expire on Feb. 26, 2027. The company has the option to extend the maturity date of all or a portion of advances outstanding at the time of maturity to Feb. 26, 2028.</p><p>Shares were near flat at the time of writing.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Credit Details</h2><p>Each of the credit agreements specifically excludes certain entities, including certain entities related to Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disney Resort, and FuboTV Inc., from any representations, covenants or events of default, the filing showed.&nbsp;</p><p>Along with the credit agreements, on Feb. 27, 2026, the company amended its existing five-year credit agreement, originally dated March 1, 2024.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Latest Earnings</h2><p>Disney last month reported revenue for first quarter (Q1) 2026 rose by 5.3% to $26 billion. <ul class="summary-bullets"><li>Blue Orca stated that Sigma cannot afford any mistakes, pointing to its most recent earnings report, which showed minimal cash reserves, a large and increasing payables balance, and significant upcoming debt maturities.</li><li>Short Seller said that according to undisclosed Brazilian legal filings and news articles, Sigma’s former mining contractor filed a sealed lawsuit against Sigma in São Paulo, and Sigma reportedly owes it $22 million.&nbsp;</li><li>The company suspended mining operations in October 2025, and had said that it was transitioning to a new mining contractor.</li></ul><p>Sigma Lithium Resources shares fell 11% on Thursday after short seller Blue Orca Capital disclosed a short position against the company.&nbsp;</p><p>The short seller alleged the company is facing undisclosed regulatory actions, creditor lawsuits and safety concerns at its Brazilian mine.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">More From Blue Orca Report</h2><p>Blue Orca said in its report that Brazilian court records reveal a technical report prepared by a mining engineering firm in 2025 that alleges Sigma deviated from its approved mine plan and built pit walls so dangerously steep that it created a “high potential for loss of human life,” threatening the safety of workers and the economic viability of the mine."&nbsp;</p><p>The short seller said that satellite imagery, reviewed by independent mining experts it has retained to corroborate the technical report, found the analysis and allegations credible.</p><p>Blue Orca stated that Sigma cannot afford any mistakes, pointing to its most recent earnings report, which showed minimal cash reserves, a large and increasing payables balance, and significant upcoming debt maturities.</p><p>“Yet undisclosed lawsuits and creditor judgments suggest that Sigma’s liquidity crisis is far worse than investors are led to believe. According to undisclosed Brazilian legal filings and news articles, Sigma’s former mining contractor filed a sealed lawsuit against Sigma in São Paulo, and Sigma reportedly owes it R$115 million ($22 million),” the report said.&nbsp;</p><h2 class="st-heading-2">Sigma Struggles</h2><p>Sigma in its third quarter results reported $6.1 million in cash and $54.8 million in supplier payables at the end of the quarter. The company has a $100 million loan due in late 2026.</p><p>The company suspended mining operations in October 2025, and had said that it was transitioning to a new mining contractor.
