Zcash is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that uses trustless zero-knowledge proofs to enable fully encrypted transactions while maintaining blockchain transparency and security. It was the first cryptocurrency to implement zero-knowledge encryption for private peer-to-peer payments, addressing the fundamental privacy gap in traditional cryptocurrencies that expose transaction details publicly.   With a fixed supply of 21 million ZEC and a halving schedule similar to Bitcoin, Zcash allows users to prove transactions are valid without revealing sensitive information like wallet balances, transaction amounts, or participant identities, making it suitable for everyday payments, long-term savings, and cross-border money transfers where financial confidentiality matters.  The protocol operates on its own blockchain currently using Proof-of-Work consensus, though it's evolving toward Proof-of-Stake through the planned "Crosslink" upgrade to enhance security, scalability, and energy efficiency. Zcash employs trustless zero-knowledge proofs (Halo) within its Orchard shielded pool to verify transactions without revealing sender, receiver, or amount information.   Users can choose between transparent public transactions and shielded private transactions through Unified Addresses, which work with both types. The network is faster and cheaper than Bitcoin, with new blocks mined every 75 seconds and transaction fees typically just a fraction of a cent. Privacy adoption has surged in 2025, with over 30% of total ZEC supply now held in fully shielded pools.  Zcash was created by a group of scientists in 2013 who initially proposed Zerocoin as a privacy extension to Bitcoin before building a standalone protocol. The ecosystem operates with a self-funded development model where block rewards support independent teams through the Zcash Community Grants Committee and a new Coinholder-Controlled Fund.

Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Wainwright downgraded Vyne Therapeutics following topline results from the company’s Phase 2b trial of repibresib gel in nonsegmental vitiligo, which failed to meet both primary and secondary endpoints.BTIG analyst Julien Harrison downgraded the stock to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Buy’ and said the company will analyze the full dataset to guide next steps. He also noted that Vyne intends to seek a development and commercialization partner for repibresib.&nbsp;Harrison added that an update is expected in the coming weeks on both repibresib and VYN202, which is currently under partial clinical hold by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.H.C. Wainwright analyst Joseph Pantginis also downgraded the stock to ‘Neutral’ from ‘Buy’ and removed the firm’s $4.5 price target, calling the trial outcome “a surprise” that “puts the company in a precarious position.”&nbsp;He said the firm will remain on the sidelines pending further clarity on repibresib, additional VYN202 data, or potential new asset acquisitions.Vyne said that the Phase 2b trial was a randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled study conducted at 45 sites across North America, enrolling 177 participants. The trial evaluated the once-daily topical administration of repibresib gel at 1%, 2%, and 3% concentrations compared to vehicle.&nbsp;The primary endpoint, defined as the proportion of patients achieving at least a 50% improvement in the Facial Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (F-VASI50) at week 24, was not met. The trial also missed a key secondary endpoint (F-VASI75).However, the company stated that the highest dose group showed a nominally statistically significant treatment effect in percent change from baseline (CFB) in both F-VASI and T-VASI scores at week 24.&nbsp;Vyne stated that the outcome was likely affected by a high vehicle effect and a higher-than-expected dropout rate in the active arms. As a result, the company has discontinued treatment in the extension phase and will terminate the trial.The company&nbsp;reported approximately $39.6 million in cash, cash equivalents, and investments as of June 30.&nbsp;Treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) were more frequent in the repibresib arms, with application site pain being the most common. Eight subjects in the treatment group discontinued due to AEs, compared to none in the vehicle group.
