With the approval, Coinbase joins Circle (CRCL), Ripple (XRP), and Paxos, which received conditional trust bank charters back in December.The company said that the approval does not signal a shift into traditional banking. “Coinbase is not becoming a commercial bank. We will not be taking retail deposits. XRP Outpaces Bitcoin While Retail Traders Call It The Biggest ‘Regret Trade’ Of 2026

The filing stated that the trust may stake a large share of its Ethereum while keeping some assets available in case investors choose to sell their shares.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Crypto Investment Products Expand Beyond Bitcoin And Ethereum</h2>Amid this broader shift toward active crypto participation, crypto investment products have also grown sharply over the past five years.
