Research and consultancy firm Deloitte on Wednesday forecast that U.S. holiday sales will grow at their slowest pace since the pandemic, a warning for retail businesses already pushed against the wall navigating tariff headwinds.The holiday season,&nbsp;spanning from early November to New Year's, marks the busiest shopping period of the year, as retailers lure consumers with deep discounts to drive sales.Sales during the November 2025-January 2026 period are expected to rise between 2.9% and 3.4%, compared to a 4.2% increase&nbsp;in the same period last year, according to a&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/retail-consumer/us-holiday-sales-set-slowest-growth-since-pandemic-deloitte-report-forecasts-2025-09-10/">report</a> from Reuters, citing Deloitte.The forecasts are based on data from agencies including the United States Commerce Department and the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis.Sales increased by 7.2% during the holiday season of 2020-2021, following a 4.9% rise in 2019-2020.Deloitte also forecast e-commerce sales to increase between 7% and 9%, in line with 8% growth last year, and in-store sales to rise between 2% and 2.2% versus 3.4% growth a year ago.The projections are worrisome and could compound the disruption from higher operational costs associated with U.S. tariffs, ultimately hurting their earnings. The President also referenced Bud Light’s market fallout and Taylor Swift’s political activism.&nbsp;The company was among the top trending tickers on Stocktwits at the time of writing. Amazon's Jeff Bezos Sells Another $1.5B Shares But Retail Traders Keep Bullish Stance

Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN) founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos has sold another batch of shares in the e-commerce giant, worth $1.5 billion, according to an exchange filing.

The latest trade comes close on the heels of the sale of $737 million in stock by Bezos.

Funds advised by BC Partners, Chewy's (CHWY) largest shareholder, are selling $1 billion worth of shares, the pet supplies company said on Monday. The company's stock dropped 2.3% in after-market trading after the company revealed the block trade in an exchange filing.Large sales are typically bad for a stock, as they signal that the selling investor sees little upside.BC Partners funds are selling 23.9 million Class A shares of Chewy at $41.91 per share, according to an exchange filing.Chewy won't receive any proceeds from the sale but has agreed to buy from the BC Partners funds $100 million worth of shares to be canceled upon completion of the deal.Chewy said the buyback was unrelated to its existing $500 million repurchase program, which remains untouched.The sale would reduce BC Partners' economic interest in Chewy to about 47% from about 53%, according to Bloomberg calculations.The investor will be restricted from selling any additional shares of Chewy for 60 days, according to the filing.Retail investors grew cautious. Victoria's Secret (VSCO) faces yet another challenge, with activist investor Barington Capital building a stake and seeking broad changes at the lingerie brand, according to reports in the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg.According to the WSJ report, which cited people familiar with the matter, Barington owns a stake of over 1% in Victoria's Secret and intends to keep buying more shares.The activist plans to push Victoria's Secret to refresh its board and refocus on its core bra business to turn around its share performance.The&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/VSCO">company's shares</a> are down more than 50% so far this year, as&nbsp;it faces challenges from upcoming brands such as Skims.The slump is exacerbated by a cyber incident that forced the company to take down its e-commerce site for three days last month.Victoria's Secret has said that it expects to take a $20 million hit to sales in the current quarter due to the incident.Earlier this month, BBRC International, one of Victoria's Secret's largest shareholders, called for a revamp of the company's board, citing "ongoing mismanagement" and "damaging board-level choices."In response, the retailer&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/victorias-secret-adopts-poison-pill-to-block-hostile-takeover-by-brett-blundy/ch03cqoRbok">adopted a shareholder rights plan</a>, commonly known as a poison pill, aimed at limiting BBRC's influence. Australian billionaire Brett Blundy leads the investment firm.Victoria's Secret told Bloomberg that "Barington has not sought to engage with us" so far.The brand is undergoing a turnaround under Hillary Super, who took over as CEO in September last year. Chewy Inc. (CHWY) issued its first-quarter results and current-quarter forecast on Wednesday, which&nbsp;exceeded Wall Street's expectations. Still, the stock dropped 11%.The slide in shares, their steepest intraday loss in nearly two years, left retail investors confused. Some users on Stocktwits called it an "overreaction" by the market.Chewy has demonstrated strong financial performance in the last few quarters, indicating business momentum.
