Two major outlets have recently published completely out-of-context tech news, so let's clear it up:

1) FT initially disregarded OpenAI's $70B gross rev, making it seem OpenAI was $20B was short of estimates.
This information was later updated by FT themselves that estimates of $70B were actually met

2a) Bloomberg apparently has no shame. Not one, but two major inaccurate headlines at once.

Bloomberg quoted Broadcom's CEO, Hock Tan, in the most hypocrital way possible. Bloomberg did exactly what Hock Tan was warning about.

- Here is what Hock Tan actually stated:

'Addressing OpenAI’s recent weak operational data, which triggered a sharp sell-off in related shares, Hock Tan stated bluntly that the market has misread the company. Given its strong underlying fundamentals, he remarked that investors selling off shares based on a single short-term metric are "no different from gambling in a casino."'

Hock Tan warned the market has become very short-term sighted taking every news outlet headline as a reliable indicator to make trades, pertaining to FT's inaccurate initial headline.

2b) Bloomberg also stated that according to Intel's CEO, Lip Bu-Tan, memory could be one of the first segments to lose steam.

- This is also miscommunicated, here is what he actually said:

“Next two, three years, we don’t see any slow down. If theres anything slow down, this are the few area that we are focused on. One is the memory shortage. Secondly, some of the substrate. I think Hock and I try to get all the substrate we can get in the marketplace.”

"The next step will be large-scale real-world deployment, meaning investment momentum is unlikely to slow down over the next few years."

The only slowdowns he named were supply shortages in memory and substrates. He literally was speaking in favor for memory demand, NOT against it.

$APLD This is a great post. Not originally tagged to APLD, but definitely relevant. I grabbed shares this morning just above 21.50 bc it had the feel of capitulation day. I'd be comfortable at that price being wrong and it dipped lower. Right now the market is hyper sensitive to irrational fear. But I've done the work and know what I own.

@Feroce_Research thank you very much for researching that.

thank you very much for researching that.

@Feroce_Research agreed. Bears trading on out-of-context headlines will get carried out. Broadcom and Intel CEOs are literally calling out the short-term noise and confirming a multi-year AI runway with memory shortages. $MU is the bottleneck, not the slowdown.

@Feroce_Research when Lip-bu Tan said an area that might “slow down” is “the memory shortage,” it wasn’t exactly clear to me what he meant. Did he mean the shortage would become less severe? But he put substrate in the same category, and said that he and Hock at a were grabbing as much as they could in the marketplace. I couldn’t parse that. Does he mean the supply of memory and substrate is too slow, or slowing down (meaning, there’s an ongoing shortage) … or did he mean the shortage itself is slowing down, meaning that it is easing?

@Feroce_Research i do also agree with Tan, As far as most people don't really know what they're investing in. When I teach, I try to get you to understand what it's doing who runs the show and why those people are good.
