Amazon.com (AMZN) is reportedly looking to extend a new set of employment offers on Nov. 10 to Whole Foods’ U.S. corporate employees.
According to the Wall Street Journal, citing an internal memo, Whole Foods’ employees, mainly in the roles of marketing and merchandising, will have a month’s time to look at and evaluate their new titles, salaries, and benefits.
The report noted that a spokeswoman for Amazon, Lauren Snyder, said that this would result in bringing Amazon’s grocery teams closer, helping ease collaboration and innovation.
Retail sentiment on Amazon remained unchanged in the ‘bearish’ territory, with message volumes at ‘extremely low’ levels, according to data from Stocktwits.
Whole Foods corporate staff will now receive Amazon discounts and healthcare coverage, the report said, attributing it to the company memo. However, these employees will no longer enjoy some existing perks of Whole Foods, including in-store discounts and remote work for four weeks a year.
The report said that Whole Foods' systems would shift to Amazon on Dec. 8. Whole Foods’ corporate employees beginning next year will be given Amazon stock instead of an annual bonus.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Whole Foods corporate staff will continue to receive their 20% store discount for about one more year, but in 2027, the perk will only be granted to in-store workers. The report added that the corporate staff will receive a 10% discount on Amazon.com for up to $100 a year starting in December this year.
Amazon stock has jumped over 4% so far this year and gained nearly 34% in the last 12 months.
