President Donald Trump denied reports that communications between the United States and Iran had stalled, calling the claims “fake news” in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.
Trump said discussions between the two countries have continued uninterrupted in recent days, disputing reports that talks had been suspended.
Trump wrote, “Fake News Reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the U.S.A., stopped speaking a few days ago are false and erroneous.”
He added, “The conversations between us have been going on continuously, including four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today.”
While acknowledging that the outcome of the talks remains uncertain, Trump renewed pressure on Tehran to reach an agreement. “Where they lead, one never knows, but as I told Iran, ‘It’s time, one way or another, for you to make a Deal,’” Trump said.
The president also criticized Iran’s long-running stance toward negotiations, adding that the situation “cannot be allowed to go on any longer.”
Trump’s comments came amid uncertainty over the status of U.S.-Iran diplomacy following reports that Tehran had suspended talks with Washington after Israel launched military operations in Lebanon.
He sent mixed signals on Monday about the status of U.S.-Iran negotiations. In media interviews, he said he “doesn’t care” if the talks collapsed, but later posted on Truth Social that discussions with Tehran were “continuing at a rapid pace.”
Following those reports, Trump said he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of Hezbollah on Monday. According to Trump, both sides agreed to stop exchanging fire.
The president also said he urged Netanyahu not to launch a major operation in Beirut. “He turned his troops around. Thank you Bibi!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
