Instagram chief Adam Mosseri is reportedly calling most U.S. staff back to the office full time starting Feb. 2.
Business Insider reported on Monday, citing an internal memo, that Mosseri wants Instagram staff to be at the office five days a week. As per the report, the change applies to employees in US offices with assigned desks, unless they work at the New York office which has space constraints.
“I believe that we are more creative and collaborative when we are together in-person,” Mosseri wrote, while adding that employees will have the flexibility of working from home when needed.
The announcement is part of a larger strategy for the first half of 2026 aimed at making the company “more nimble and creative,” as per the internal memo.
Mosseri said that employees at the company’s New York office won’t be expected to come back full time until space constraints are resolved. At Meta’s headquarters in California, everyone will have an assigned desk after January 26, he said.
Mosseri also offered staff the option to transfer from the California office to the San Francisco office for those who will find it easier to commute there. There will further be no change for employees who are currently remote, he added, as per the report.
In addition, Mosseri also outlined plans in the memo to lower the number of meetings, opining that meetings that are not effective are only slowing the company down.
“I also support everyone in making recurring 1:1s biweekly by default and declining meetings if they fall during your focus blocks,” Mosseri wrote.
Furthermore, more product overviews should be prototypes instead of slide decks, he added.
