Limitless AI's CEO Dan Siroker announced via X on Friday that the AI wearable startup has been acquired by Meta Platforms.
"I'm excited to share that Limitless has been acquired by Meta!," Siroker said in a video update. The CEO added that the acquisition is part of Meta’s announcement to bring personal superintelligence to everyone, key to which is AI-wearables. Siroker said that Limitless will be working with Meta to bring the shared vision to life.
The CEO, however, did not disclose the terms of the deal.
Siroker said that the company will continue to support its AI-powered Pendant customers for at least another year but will no longer sell the Pendant to new customers. Pendant, a lightweight AI wearable remembers what the user says throughout the day. It supports over a 100 languages and also provides smart summaries of conversations.
Siroker also highlighted that customer data will remain safe whether they choose to continue using the pendant or not. Customers will also have the option to delete their data.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Meta hired Apple’s longtime user-interface design head Alan Dye as it steps up its push into AI-enabled consumer hardware. Dye will reportedly join Meta as chief design officer on Dec. 31. He will oversee design for hardware, software and AI integration, reporting to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth, who runs Meta’s Reality Labs division responsible for VR headsets and wearable devices.
The company already makes AI-powered smart glasses in partnership with Ray-Ban.
META shares closed 2% higher on Friday. On Stocktwits, retail sentiment around META stayed within the 'neutral' territory over the past 24 hours while message volume rose from 'low' to 'normal' levels.
META stock has gained 15% this year and by about 11% over the past 12 months.
