Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency created by Charlie Lee. It was created based on the Bitcoin protocol but differs in terms of the hashing algorithm used. Litecoin uses the memory intensive Scrypt proof of work mining algorithm. Scrypt allows consumer-grade hardware such as GPU to mine those coins.  Why Litecoin? Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin's 10 minutes.  ‘While this matters little to traders, miners who use hardware to run Bitcoin's network cannot switch over to Litecoin. This keeps bigger mining conglomerates away from Litecoin because they cannot easily optimize their profits by swapping to another coin, contributing to a more decentralized experience. Litecoin also has bigger blocks, and more coins in circulation, making it more affordable and swift when transacting,’ Investopedia explained.  As explained above, Litecoin can transact a lot faster than Bitcoin, but there are also a number of other characteristics that investors need to know before trading. Litecoin can handle higher volumes of transactions because of the capability of transacting faster and if Bitcoin attempted to transact on the scale of its altcoin, a code update would be needed. However, Litecoin’s blocks would be larger, but with more ‘orphaned blocks'. The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks - this is theoretical in the case of both networks having the same hashing power.  Litecoin Technical Details: The transaction confirmation time taken for Litecoin is about 2.5 minutes on average (as compared to Bitcoin's 10 minutes). The Litecoin network is scheduled to cap at 84 million currency units.   Litecoin has inspired many other popular alternative currencies (eg. Dogecoin) because of its Scrypt hashing algorithm in order to prevent ASIC miners from mining those coins. However it is said that by the end of this year, Scrypt ASIC will enter the mass market.

Zcash employs trustless zero-knowledge proofs (Halo) within its Orchard shielded pool to verify transactions without revealing sender, receiver, or amount information.   Users can choose between transparent public transactions and shielded private transactions through Unified Addresses, which work with both types. The network is faster and cheaper than Bitcoin, with new blocks mined every 75 seconds and transaction fees typically just a fraction of a cent. Privacy adoption has surged in 2025, with over 30% of total ZEC supply now held in fully shielded pools.  Zcash was created by a group of scientists in 2013 who initially proposed Zerocoin as a privacy extension to Bitcoin before building a standalone protocol. The ecosystem operates with a self-funded development model where block rewards support independent teams through the Zcash Community Grants Committee and a new Coinholder-Controlled Fund.

The fee may be proportional to the amount of computation required by the transaction, similar to Ethereum’s concept of “gas”. The economic security of the Cosmos Hub is a function of the amount of ATOM staked. The more ATOM that are collateralized, the more “skin” there is at stake and the higher the cost of attacking the network. Nvidia’s China Orders Are Surging – And Retail Believes Price Targets Will Follow

Applications that do not meet the requirements are typically rejected. According to the report, China aims for 100% domestic equipment in these plants.The move comes as China aims for a self-sufficient domestic semiconductor supply chain after the U.S. banned exports of advanced AI chips and semiconductor equipment to the Asian nation.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Beyond US Export Controls</h2>China’s mandate includes components beyond those on the U.S. export restrictions list. The move is a broader push to adopt domestic tools even in domains where imports from the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Europe are available, as per the report.However, in instances where domestically developed equipment is not yet available, for example, in advanced chip production lines, the requirements are relaxed.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Early Signs Of Impact</h2>The rule is reportedly already yielding results, according to a source cited by Reuters. Before the rule, domestic companies like SMIC would prefer U.S. equipment over Chinese ones, but after the 2023 U.S export restrictions, Chinese companies had to pivot to work with domestic suppliers.Naura, one of the largest chip equipment manufacturers in China, is reportedly testing its etching tools, a critical tool in the chip manufacturing process, on a cutting-edge 7nm (nanometre) production line at Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, according to two sources.One of the sources also believes that two or three major equipment manufacturers would eventually dominate the Chinese markets, and Naura would certainly be one of them. &nbsp;<h2 class="st-heading-2">Why US Markets Should Care</h2>The U.S. and China have been competing for technological dominance, with the battle intensifying in recent years. Micron’s advanced memory products, such as its HBM3E modules that pack more capacity while drawing less power, have become highly sought after by data center operators, smartphone makers, and personal computer builders.&nbsp;Earlier in December, the company said it would exit its Crucial consumer business to focus on memory and storage for artificial intelligence.“The AI-driven growth in the data center has led to a surge in demand for memory and storage. Micron has made the difficult decision to exit the Crucial consumer business in order to improve supply and support for our larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments,” said Sumit Sadana, EVP and Chief Business Officer.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Analysts Confident About Micron&nbsp;</h2>BofA analyst Vivek Arya upgraded the stock to ‘Buy’ on December 18 and lifted his price target to $300 from $250. He expects much higher earnings over the next few years because he believes the memory market will stay stronger for longer and Micron’s finances are in good shape.&nbsp;Raymond James followed suit, with analyst Melissa Fairbanks boosting the price target to $310 from $190 and keeping a ‘Outperform’ rating.
