ChatGPT’s OpenAI and Claud’s Anthropic are partnering with leading Wall Street financial institutions to better sell their AI tools and services and help companies integrate them more quickly and at scale.
OpenAI has raised $4 billion via a joint venture with TPG Inc., Brookfield Asset Management, Advent, and Bain Capital, Bloomberg reported.
Simultaneously, Anthropic, in an official statement on Monday, announced the formation of a new AI services company along with its founding partners, including Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, and Hellman & Friedman. The organization will work with mid-sized companies across sectors to bring Claude into their most important operations.
The partnerships come on the back of massive AI spending highlighted in the quarterly financial reports of most chipmakers, data center operators, and memory chip designers, with spill-over effects across the entire AI spectrum.
Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman are anchoring the deal and are each expected to invest roughly $300 million, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Goldman Sachs will put around $150 million. General Atlantic, Leonard Green, Apollo Global Management, GIC, and Sequoia Capital are also involved. All told, about $1.5 billion is expected to be committed, according to the WSJ report.
“Enterprise demand for Claude is significantly outpacing any single delivery model. Our partnerships with the world's leading systems integrators are central to how Claude reaches large enterprises,” said Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic.
OpenAI’s new venture is called The Deployment Company, according to a Bloomberg report. The fundraising values OpenAI’s new company at $10 billion, and will be majority-owned and controlled by OpenAI.
Other partners include Dragoneer Investment Group and SoftBank Group Corp, as well as a mix of consulting firms.
Retail sentiment on Stocktwits was ‘extremely bullish’ with ‘extremely high’ message volumes for OpenAI, while the sentiment was ‘bearish’ with ‘low’ message volumes for Anthropic.
