Fintech major Paytm on Tuesday introduced the Paytm AI Soundbox, an artificial intelligence-powered device aimed at helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) manage daily operations and payments more efficiently.

Unveiled at the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025, the new device builds on Paytm’s popular payment Soundbox series but adds a conversational AI layer that allows merchants to interact with the system in 11 Indian languages. The AI assistant can answer questions about payments, sales trends, and business performance—turning the Soundbox into what the company describes as a "business intelligence assistant."

The Android-based device features dual screens—a front touchscreen and a top display for payment updates—and supports dynamic QR codes, tap, and insert card transactions. Connectivity options include WiFi and 4G to ensure reliability across retail environments.

Paytm said the goal was to extend artificial intelligence tools to India's vast small business network, from local kirana stores to cafés and retail chains, allowing them to access real-time insights without complex software setups.

"From QR-based payments to Soundbox, we’re now entering the intelligence age," said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm’s founder and CEO, in a statement. "Our AI-first products are designed to make the power of AI inclusive and reliable for every business."

The launch comes amid a broader wave of AI integration in India’s fintech sector, as companies increasingly embed machine learning into payment devices and merchant analytics tools to drive efficiency and engagement.
