Tata Power EV Charging Solutions and VE Commercial Vehicles have joined hands to expand electric truck and bus adoption in India, starting with charging support for the new Eicher Pro X range.
Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) to promote electric commercial mobility in India.
The partnership will begin with charging support for the newly launched Eicher Pro X range of small commercial vehicles. Both companies said the collaboration is aimed at speeding up the adoption of cleaner transport and modernising India’s commercial vehicle segment.
As part of the agreement, Tata Power will provide EV charging infrastructure and customised charging solutions. VECV will apply its expertise in energy efficiency to enhance the performance of electric trucks and buses. Together, the firms will engage with Eicher Trucks and Buses customers to support fleet operators transitioning to electric vehicles.
The partnership will also address challenges such as range anxiety, charging point availability, and operating costs. Over time, it will extend to other models in Eicher’s electric vehicle portfolio.
Tata Power claims to have a nationwide EV charging network under its EZ Charge brand, which includes more than 1.5 lakh home chargers, 5,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and 1,200 charging points for electric buses.
VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited, has been operational since 2008. It manufactures and sells Eicher-branded trucks and buses in 40 countries, oversees Volvo Buses India, and distributes Volvo Trucks in India.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited develops and operates solar, wind, hybrid, battery storage, and floating solar projects. The company has a total renewable capacity of 10.9 GW, of which 5.4 GW is currently operational.
