  • President Trump stated in a post on Truth Social that the results in Iran will be amazing just like they were in Venezuela’s case.
  • He added that the results of the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israel as well as his belief that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon convinced him of the strikes.
  • President Trump also noted that Iran firing bullets at vessels in the Strait of Hormuz was a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

President Donald Trump on Monday reportedly warned that “lots of bombs” will start going off if the ceasefire with Iran expires.

During an interview with PBS News, President Trump stated he does not know whether Iran will attend the next round of talks, expected to take place in Pakistan this week.

“I don't know. I mean, they're supposed to be there. We agreed to be there, although they say we didn't. But no, it was set up. And we'll see whether or not it's there. If they're not there, that's fine too,” he said.

Trump reiterated that Iran cannot obtain a nuclear weapon, stating that the U.S. is not negotiating on anything other than this aspect.

Trump Says Gas Prices Will Come ‘Roaring Down’ If Iran War Ends

The U.S. President added that gas prices will come “roaring down” if the Iran war ends, and that he disagrees with U.S Energy Secretary Chris Wright who told CNN that gas prices may not drop below $3 per gallon until 2027.

Gas prices have soared by 29% since the beginning of the Iran war. According to data from AAA Fuel Prices, gas prices are currently hovering around $4.042 per gallon.

White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett stated in a CNBC interview earlier on Monday that the current spike in crude oil prices is not permanent and that there is ample capacity that will return to the market once the war with Iran is over.

Results In Iran Will Be ‘Amazing,’ Says Trump

President Trump also stated in a post on Truth Social that the results in Iran will be amazing just like they were in Venezuela’s case.

“And if Iran’s new leaders (Regime Change!) are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!” he said, adding that Israel did not talk him into the war with Iran. Trump stated that the results of the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks on Israel as well as his belief that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon convinced him of the strikes.

In another post, Trump said that Iran firing bullets at vessels in the Strait of Hormuz was a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

“We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran,” he said.

Crude oil prices climbed back up on Monday after tumbling on Friday. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures expiring in June were up nearly 6%, hovering around $87 a barrel. Brent crude futures expiring in June rose about 6% to hover around $96 a barrel.

The United States Oil Fund ETF (USO) was up more than 5% at the time of writing, while the ProShares Ultra Bloomberg Crude Oil ETF (UCO) gained nearly 7%.

Iranian President Calls For Diplomacy To Reduce Tensions

Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the war must end, adding that the country needs to focus on rebuilding. According to a CNN report, he stated that every rational and diplomatic path must be used to reduce tensions.

“We must recognize that continuing the conflict benefits no one — not us, not the other side, and not the future of the region or coming generations,” he said, according to the report.

U.S. equities declined in Monday’s opening trade. At the time of writing, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), which tracks the S&P 500 index, was down 0.44%; the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF (QQQ) fell 0.74%; and the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) declined 0.25%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits regarding the S&P 500 ETF was in the ‘extremely bullish’ territory.
