In a post on Sunday, US President Donald Trump called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and warned of possible escalation with Iran.
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day" in Iran, Trump said on Truth Social, adding that there would be "nothing like it" and pleading with the government to "open the Strait."

The comments came as tensions in the Middle East rose considerably, with a missing US F-15E crew member recovered after what officials characterized as a "heavy firefight" within Iran. Trump acknowledged the operation, adding, "WE GOT HIM!" and describing it as one of the most daring rescue attempts in US history.
According to an Aljazeera report, Iranian state-linked media said that strikes during the rescue mission killed at least five individuals in the southwest. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it destroyed numerous US aircraft, including C-130 planes and Black Hawk helicopters, however these allegations have not been independently corroborated.
The conflict has extended across the Gulf, with Iranian drone and missile attacks on energy infrastructure in Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE, causing major damage to petrochemical plants and oil storage facilities. Fires caused by falling debris forced the suspension of operations at a large petrochemicals complex in Abu Dhabi.
Energy and financial markets constantly monitor any perceived threat to the Strait of Hormuz, as it is a crucial chokepoint through which a sizable share of the world's oil supply passes.
