While the announcement was light on details, the move would step up pressure on larger pharmacy middlemen, the report noted.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Cuban, Humana Talk About Partnership</h2>Cuban reportedly said that he was talking to Humana about “putting together direct-to-employer programs”. Humana CEO Jim Rechtin also highlighted that he is looking to simplify the process of getting drugs from manufacturers to patients, Bloomberg reported.Cuban sells mail-order medications directly to customers through Cost Plus Drugs company by removing middlemen such as pharmacy benefit managers. The billionaire is critical of pharmacy benefit managers. Last month, the billionaire blamed PBMs for hiking the prices of GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss and as a treatment for diabetes.Pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are third-party administrators that act as intermediaries between health insurance plans, pharmacies, and drug manufacturers to manage prescription drug benefits.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Humana’s Pharmacy Business</h2>Humana, meanwhile, is expanding its pharmacy business. It offers pharmacy under its CenterWell business division which also includes senior-focused primary care and home health services. Billionaire Mark Cuban And Humana Tease A New Pharmacy Deal Aimed At Cutting Out Middlemen: Report

It said that the five-year term loan facility will strengthen its balance sheet and provide increased flexibility going forward.The initial tranche of $600 million, of three tranches, will be drawn upfront, the company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://feeds.issuerdirect.com/news-release.html?newsid=9002529460187539&amp;symbol=MRNA">said</a>, followed by the option to avail $400 million through November 2027. The company can also draw another $500 million through November 2028 under the credit facility contingent on the achievement of key regulatory milestones.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Moderna’s Near-Term Goals</h2>The company <a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://feeds.issuerdirect.com/news-release.html?newsid=5758345706655596&amp;symbol=MRNA">continues</a> to target cash breakeven by 2028 and reduce its 2026 and 2027 expected cash costs with cost management and by prioritizing certain research and development efforts.Moderna rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic with its mRNA-based vaccine Spikevax. In the third quarter of 2025, the company reported total revenue of $1 billion, down from $1.9 billion in the corresponding period of 2024, mainly due to lower COVID-19 vaccine sales. However, Covid vaccine sales accounted for a whopping 97% of the company’s overall revenue in the three months through the end of September."Over the next three years, we expect to build a large seasonal vaccine franchise for at-risk populations and invest the cash generated into oncology and rare disease therapeutics," CEO Stéphane Bancel said on Thursday.The company will build a vaccine franchise with as many as six approved products by 2028 and invest cash generated from its portfolio, including Spikevax, mRESVIA and mNEXSPIKE, as well as other yet-to-launch vaccines, including a flu-covid combination vaccine, into diversifying its portfolio.Investment in late-stage oncology and rare disease programs will set the company up for additional growth in 2027 and 2028, the company said.Moderna’s pipeline currently consists of two oncology therapies and two rare disease therapeutics that are under development. Moderna Secures $1.5B Credit Facility As It Seeks To Pivot Away From Vaccines

Philip Morris International Inc. (PM) said on Wednesday that its experts met with the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee on October 7 as it seeks to continue marketing versions of its IQOS heated tobacco products in the U.S. as modified risk tobacco products.The committee provides nonbinding recommendations to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP). Shares of CarMax (KMX) slumped 24% on Thursday morning after the company’s second-quarter earnings fell below Wall Street expectations, sparking a downgrade by Wedbush.<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://media.carmax.com/press-releases/news-release/2025/CarMax-Reports-Second-Quarter-Fiscal-Year-2026-Results/default.aspx">Total vehicle sales</a> for the company declined 4.1% year-over-year in the quarter to 338,031 units, resulting in a 6% decrease in revenue to $6.59 billion, which fell short of the estimated $7.02 billion. Net earnings per share came in at $0.64, down from $0.85 in the corresponding quarter of 2024.Total net income declined 28% to $95.4 million, while income from the company’s auto finance business fell 11.2% to $102.6 million.
