Ripple is the catchall name for the cryptocurrency platform, the transactional protocol for which is actually XRP, in the same fashion as Ethereum is the name for the platform that facilitates trades in Ether. Like other cryptocurrencies, Ripple is built atop the idea of a distributed ledger network which requires various parties to participate in validating transactions, rather than any singular centralized authority. That facilitates transactions all over the world, and transfer fees are far cheaper than the likes of bitcoin. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP transfers are effectively immediate, requiring no typical confirmation time.  Ripple was originally founded by a single company, Ripple Labs, and continues to be backed by it, rather than the larger network of developers that continue bitcoin’s development. It also doesn’t have a fluctuating amount of its currency in existence. Where bitcoin has a continually growing pool with an eventual maximum, and Ethereum theoretically has no limit, Ripple was created with all of its 100 billion XRP tokens right out of the gate. That number is maintained with no mining and most of the tokens are owned and held by Ripple Labs itself — around 60 billion at the latest count.  Even at the recently reduced value of around half a dollar per XRP, that means Ripple Labs is currently sitting on around $20 billion worth of the cryptocurrency (note: Ripple’s price crashed hard recently, and may be worth far less than $60 billion by time you read this). It holds 55 billion XRP in an escrow account, which allows it to sell up to a billion per month if it so chooses in order to fund new projects and acquisitions. Selling such an amount would likely have a drastic effect on the cryptocurrency’s value, and isn’t something Ripple Labs plans to do anytime soon.  In actuality, Ripple Labs is looking to leverage the technology behind XRP to allow for faster banking transactions around the world. While Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are built on the idea of separating financial transactions from the financial organizations of traditional currencies, Ripple is almost the opposite in every sense. Pony.ai said Tuesday it is confident of meeting its goal to produce 1,000 seventh-generation robotaxis by the end of 2025, with more than 200 vehicles deployed since mass production began two months ago.&nbsp;Second-quarter robotaxi revenue rose 158% from a year earlier to $1.5 million, Bloomberg&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-08-13/pony-ai-nears-full-year-robotaxi-target-despite-scaling-hurdles">reported</a>, citing CEO James Peng on an earnings call.The update follows the company’s July 25&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/pony-ai-starts-around-the-clock-robotaxi-operations-in-guangzhou-shenzhen/chob4zKR5wh">launch of around-the-clock robotaxi operations</a> in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, expanding from a 15-hour daily schedule, and its extension of testing hours in Beijing to 24 hours a day.&nbsp;Pony.ai stated that its autonomous driving system has logged over 500,000 hours and 50 million kilometers in driverless mode, achieving a safety record it claims is up to 10 times better than that of human drivers.&nbsp;The system uses LiDAR, radar, and cameras to improve detection in low-light and low-contrast conditions.The company is currently&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/pony-ai-starts-road-testing-7th-gen-baic-robotaxis-in-beijing/ch8wYzVR5Mr">testing Gen-7 robotaxis</a>, developed in collaboration with automakers BAIC and Guangzhou Automobile Group, in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, including within Beijing’s 225-square-kilometer High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone.&nbsp;Earlier this year, Pony.ai unveiled models built on platforms from Toyota, BAIC, and GAC, including the Toyota bZ4X, ARCFOX Alpha T5, and second-generation Aion V.CFO Leo Wang said scaling hundreds of fully driverless vehicles remains challenging, citing limited regulatory readiness outside the U.S. and China, as well as the need to develop a sustainable fare-charging model.&nbsp;Pony.ai reported a second-quarter net loss of $53.3 million, widening from $30.9 million a year earlier, as research and development spending climbed 69% to $49 million on Gen-7 programs.Following the results, BofA lowered its price target on Pony.ai to $20 from $21 while maintaining a ‘Buy’ rating. The new variant of the mid-sized electric SUV manufactured by Tesla is designed to enhance the appeal of the Model Y, which is the company’s best-selling electric vehicle.In the second quarter of 2025,&nbsp;the Model Y sold 86,120 units, followed by the Model 3 at 48,803.The move to launch a new Model Y L comes at a time when Tesla is facing increasing competition from local Chinese EV manufacturers, particularly BYD,&nbsp;which are offering spacious and more price-competitive electric models.The six-seat configuration is specific to the Chinese market. It could offer more passenger space, particularly in the third row, to meet the expectations of Chinese families.As per earlier speculation, production of the six-seater Model Y L is expected to take place at the company’s factory in Shanghai. Cathie Wood's Ark Investment Management has purchased 139,236 shares of DoorDash (DASH), according to TipRanks, marking the first time the popular investment firm has gained exposure to the food-delivery company's stock.The transaction was made on Monday. Based on the DASH average trading price on the day, Ark would have likely bought shares worth $43.6 million.In the same trade, Ark also reportedly bought over $18 million worth of shares of Nvidia (NVDA). The fund manager sold stakes in Meta Platforms (META) and the newly-listed Circle Internet Group (CRCL).Ark's investment in DoorDash&nbsp;follows a massive acquisition deal&nbsp;by the company to expand its food delivery operations.Last month, it&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/news-articles/markets/equity/doodash-takes-a-big-bite-of-uk-delivery-market-with-3-9-b-deliveroo-buyout/chi4y8QRb1p">agreed to acquire</a> the UK's Deliveroo for $3.8 billion, pending approvals. Sunnyvale, California-based Synopsys, Inc. ($SNPS), a supplier of tools and services for the semiconductor industry, announced fiscal year 2024 fourth-quarter results that exceeded expectations. However, the stock retreated on a lackluster revenue outlook for fiscal year 2025.The company reported fourth-quarter non-GAAP earnings per share (EPS) of $3.40, exceeding the consensus of $3.30 and the year ago’s $3.00Snyopsys’ revenue was a record $1.64 billion, up 11% year-over-year (YoY), also above the average analysts’ estimate of $1.63 billion.Sassine Ghazi, president and CEO of Synopsys, said, “The fourth quarter was a strong finish to a transformational year for Synopsys. We achieved record financial results while doubling down on our strategy with the sale of our Software Integrity business and the pending acquisition of Ansys.”Looking ahead, Synopsys guided fiscal year 2025 first-quarter non-GAAP EPS&nbsp;to $2.77-$2.82 and revenue&nbsp;to $1.435 billion-$1.465 billion. According to Yahoo Finance data, analysts, on average, expect the numbers to be $2.79&nbsp;billion&nbsp;and $1.47 billion, respectively.The company guided full-year 2025 non-GAAP EPS&nbsp;between&nbsp;$14.88&nbsp;and&nbsp;$14.96 and revenue to&nbsp;range between&nbsp;$6.745 billion&nbsp;and&nbsp;$6.805 billion.&nbsp;Stocktwits data showed that the consensus estimates are at $14.89&nbsp;billion&nbsp;and $6.84 billion, respectively.At last check, Synopsys stock was down 9.71% at $530.93.&nbsp; Baird analyst Joe Vruwink attributed the adverse stock reaction to the headline revenue miss.
