Goldman noted that BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Renault now trade at negative industrial stub valuations, which it called “premature,” and said the premium segment remains the most undervalued part of the market.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Automakers Goldman Sees As Attractive Value Opportunities</h2>Goldman highlighted several automakers that it believes offer meaningful upside. The company initiated BMW with a ‘Buy’ rating and a 112 euro price target, implying a 32% upside. Mercedes-Benz was also initiated with a ‘Buy’ rating and a 74 euro price target, representing a 30% upside. Goldman said it likes both BMW and Mercedes-Benz for their “healthy” balance sheets and “shareholder-friendly” capital allocation frameworks.The bank initiated Ferrari with a ‘Buy’ rating and a $454 price target, giving the stock a 35% upside. Goldman said Ferrari’s higher-priced Special Series volumes support stronger selling prices and growth.Goldman also said Renault offers the same “attractive value” seen across premium automakers. Shares of General Motors and Ford fell on Thursday as major automakers warned that a deepening semiconductor disruption tied to a dispute between China and the Dutch government could soon hit U.S. and European vehicle production.<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/GM">General Motors’ stock</a> slipped 0.8% to close at $57.34 on Thursday, while&nbsp;<a href="https://stocktwits.com/symbol/F">Ford’s stock</a> edged 0.2% lower to $11.74.&nbsp;Automakers Warn Of Supply Chain RisksThe European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) said carmakers and suppliers had been notified by chipmaker Nexperia that it could no longer guarantee deliveries, warning that manufacturing could be significantly disrupted. The notice comes as automakers already face supply-chain pressure from tariffs, foreign competition, and softening demand, according to a Reuters&nbsp;<a class="st-link-external" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/automaker-group-warns-nexperia-chip-supply-issue-could-quickly-disrupt-us-2025-10-17/">report</a>.In the U.S., the trade group Alliance for Automotive Innovation, whose members represent automakers such as GM and Ford as well as Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Stellantis and other companies, urged both governments to resolve the issue quickly before it worsens.&nbsp;John Bozzella, the group’s CEO, said if chip shipments don’t resume soon, auto production in the U.S. and elsewhere will be disrupted with consequences for other parts of the economy.Some automakers said that U.S. production could be affected as early as next month. GM, Ford Stocks Slip As China-Dutch Chip Dispute Over Nexperia Sparks Fresh Supply Chain Fears

The dispute erupted after the Dutch government seized control of Chinese-owned Nexperia over security concerns, triggering retaliation from Beijing and raising fears of another supply shock for the auto industry.

Ferrari shares rose&nbsp;over 1% in premarket trading on Friday, recovering some ground after a bruising day, as investors weighed the luxury automaker’s new long-term financial targets and the first look at the technology behind its debut electric car.The Italian carmaker set a 2030 revenue goal of €9 billion, up from a forecast of €7.1 billion for 2025 but below Wall Street’s expectations, along with an adjusted core profit target of at least €3.6 billion. The muted outlook took the shine off the unveiling of the technology behind Ferrari’s first fully electric model, the Elettrica, at its Maranello headquarters.&nbsp;That sent U.S.-listed shares tumbling nearly 15% on Thursday, their worst day since debuting on the NYSE 10 years ago.At the event, CEO Benedetto Vigna called the unveiling “a historic day” for Ferrari, saying the new Elettrica is meant to complement rather than replace its traditional petrol and hybrid cars. The company has also scaled back its electrification goals, now targeting a 2030 lineup comprising 40% internal combustion models, 40% hybrids, and 20% fully electric vehicles, a significant shift from its earlier 2022 target of 40% EVs.The company showcased the Elettrica’s production-ready chassis, featuring in-house battery packs and electric motors developed at Ferrari’s new “e-building.” The completed model, set for a global premiere next year, will reach a top speed of 310 km/h and have a range of at least 530 km. A specially engineered sound system will amplify authentic powertrain vibrations to give the car a distinct “electric Ferrari” identity.In its drive to build a wider lifestyle brand, Ferrari will launch two flagships in London and New York in 2026, with “tailor-made” customization hubs in Tokyo and Los Angeles in 2027. The company also reported that its active customer base has increased by around 20% since 2022 to 90,000.Ferrari continues to trade at premium valuations despite the recent selloff. Its forward price-to-earnings (P/E) multiple has climbed 71.1% over time, pointing to an implied annual growth rate of 5.6%, while peers have contracted: Mercedes-Benz is down 3.7%, Porsche AG has plunged 66.7%, and BMW has declined 20.3%.According to Koyfin, Ferrari’s 12-month average price target suggests a 26.5% upside from its current price of $407.38. Over the past year, the stock has fallen 10.8%. Ferrari Stock Trots Back Up Premarket After Worst Day Ever: Retail Bulls Hold Their Conviction

The Italian luxury carmaker’s stock continues to trade at premium valuations despite the recent selloff. 

German automakers BMW (BMWYY), Mercedes-Benz (MBGAF), and Volkswagen (VWAGY) are in talks with the U.S. over a possible import tariff deal, Reuters <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/bmw-mercedes-vw-seek-tariff-relief-return-us-investment-handelsblatt-reports-2025-05-28/">reported</a> on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.The automakers are hoping for a deal in June, a source told Reuters while noting that it would rely on the companies pledging substantial investment in the U.S. to convince the administration.Another source told the agency that German automakers would get credits for the vehicles they export from the U.S., which would then be deducted from tariffs as part of the proposal being discussed. None of the companies, however, commented on any talks with the U.S. government.While Mercedes has already said that it will add its best-selling GLC SUV to its Alabama plant lineup starting in 2027, BMW is considering adding shifts at the Spartanburg plant, and Volkswagen's Audi is planning to produce some models in the United States, the report noted.Both BMW and Mercedes also export heavily from the U.S.While Trump previously threatened to impose 50% tariffs on goods from the EU starting June 1, he has since then rolled back on it after a call with the EU Commission chief.The European Commission, which oversees the EU's trade policy, is currently attempting to forge a deal with the U.S. to end import tariffs or prevent further hikes.The region currently faces 25% import tariffs on its steel, aluminium, and cars. BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen In Talks With US For Tariff Deal, Says Report

German automaker BMW Group (BMWYY) said on Thursday that it <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0449504EN/bmw-group-reports-strong-growth-in-europe-and-us-with-significant-increase-in-bev-sales-worldwide">delivered</a> 586,149 vehicles in the first quarter of 2025, marking a dip of 1.4% from the corresponding period last year, owing to a drop in Chinese demand.BMW’s sales saw a 6.2% growth in Europe and a 4% growth in the U.S., but fell by a steep 17.2% in China.The group’s fully electric vehicle sales rose 32.4% to 109,516 units.The group has multiple brands, including BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce.
