Wednesday brings earnings from uniform rental provider Cintas and payroll company Paychex, which have significant exposure to small and medium-sized businesses. Cramer said both head into their reports with momentum because that portion of the economy remains strong and has historically been able to withstand the onset of a monetary tightening cycle.
General Mills reports on Wednesday as well, but Cramer remains cautious on the packaged-food company. the weird one today is a stock getting paid a day late. $CTAS beat on wednesday and raised, organic growth accelerated to 8.9%, fy27 incremental margin guide up to 32 to 34% from 30 to 32%. it closed down 3.4% anyway. nothing was wrong with the print, the nasdaq just fell 1.1% that session on rising yields. overnight five desks lifted targets, goldman to 239, ubs 235, truist 230, baird 222, and it's up about 3% today reclaiming the entire drop.

The quality detail: management says growth is volume-led, not price-led. Organic revenue +8.9%, and First Aid & Safety (+16.1%) is growing nearly twice as fast as core Uniform Rental (+9.7%). 
 
FY27 guide raised to $12.15-12.27B revenue and $5.45-5.54 adj EPS. Dividend bumped ~16%. 
 
The friction: at ~51x earnings the guide raise has to be more than modest, and there's $14.4M of UniFirst deal costs sitting in the quarter.

Bernstein warned Wednesday that regulatory scrutiny is increasing around Cintas’ proposed acquisition of UniFirst, widening the gap between the two companies’ shares. Analyst Connor Cerniglia said the market-implied probability of regulatory approval has fallen to about 70%, from roughly 85% on Aug. 25. UniFirst shares have dropped 7% since then, while Cintas is down about 2%. 
The decline was driven by reports that the FTC issued “extensive” civil investigative demands to outside industry participants and by a separate 160-page Uniform Bright report that could give the FTC, Justice Department and state attorneys general additional arguments against the deal. 
Cintas still expects the transaction to close and plans to complete its response to the FTC’s second request between September and November. Bernstein maintains approval as its base case and expects the deal to close in early 2027, while noting that the market now implies about a 30% chance of failure.
