Microsoft Unveils Five-Point ‘Community-First AI’ Infrastructure Plan That Includes Capping AI Data Center Costs

The remaining $1.1 billion charge is non-EV related and mainly relates to the company’s previously announced restructuring of its China joint venture SAIC General Motors Corporate Limited.GM shares slipped 2% after-hours at the time of writing.<h2 class="st-heading-2">EV-Related Charges</h2>GM in October said that it took a $1.6 billion charge in the third quarter (Q3) after it pulled back on EV capacity and also signaled that more write-downs are in store.The automaker noted on Thursday that consumer demand for EVs in North America began to slow in 2025 as a result of the expiry of $7,500 federal tax credit on the purchase of EVs by September-end, forcing the company to review its EV capacity and investments. The automaker hinted that it expects to incur further charges in 2026, though less than the EV-related charges in 2025. General Motors Incurs $7.1B In Charges In Q4 Pertaining To Slowing EV Demand, China Business Restructuring

Vistra Soars After Hours As It Acquires Cogentrix Energy For $4B

The previous generation of the Bolt EV was among the company’s best-sellers until its discontinuation in late 2023.The company took a $1.6 billion charge in October after it pulled back on its EV capacity. The automaker also signaled that more write-downs are in store.“We continue managing our EV business to protect our brands and products. Our EV incentives remain approx. half the industry average,” the company said in a statement on Monday.<h2 class="st-heading-2">2025 Overall Sales</h2>Vehicle sales in the U.S. through 2025 increased 5.5% to 2.85 million units. Sales of the GMC Sierra rose about 10% during the full year while sales of the Chevrolet Silverado rose 5%. The deal was expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2025.Meanwhile, AccuLynx has notified Verisk that it believes the termination of the merger is invalid. Verisk said that it strongly disagrees with the assertion and will defend its stance.Shares of VRSK were up 0.5% at the time of writing.<h2 class="st-heading-2">Debt Redemption</h2>Verisk also said it will redeem $1.5 billion of senior notes issued in relation to the acquisition. The redemption will be at 101% of the principal amount plus accrued and unpaid interest as of the redemption date.After the debt redemption, Verisk’s leverage would have been 1.9x trailing twelve-month adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) as of Sept. 30, 2025. The company had $1.2 billion capacity left over under its share repurchase authorization.“Verisk remains committed to our capital allocation discipline – balancing organic investment in our highest return on capital opportunities while returning capital to shareholders through dividend and repurchases. Verisk Terminates $2.35 Billion AccuLynx Acquisition Amid FTC Deadline Delay

Verisk Analytics said it has cancelled the AccuLynx acquisition after the Federal Trade Commission failed to complete its review by the Dec. 26, 2025, deadline.

While the reported $20 billion cost is high, it is small relative to Nvidia's cash position and cash flow generation. The firm kept a “Buy” rating on the shares with a $275 price target.Meanwhile, Citi analyst Atif Malik viewed Nvidia's licensing deal with Groq as a "clear positive.” Citi believes Nvidia has navigated regulatory scrutiny, given that Groq will remain an independent company. It kept a “Buy” rating with a $270 price target.Stifel said that Nvidia's deal with Groq could extend AI infrastructure leadership and also kept a “Buy” rating on Nvidia with a $250 price target. UBS also remained bullish on Nvidia shares heading into 2026. It said that it expects appreciation from here to be driven almost by higher earnings estimates.<h2 class="st-heading-2">$20 Billion Groq Deal</h2>Last week, Groq said that it had entered into a non-exclusive licensing agreement with Nvidia for its inference technology. While the company did not disclose a price, CNBC reported the deal could be valued at $20 billion.As per the deal, Nvidia will onboard Groq’s senior management team, including founder Jonathan Ross and President Sunny Madra, to help advance and scale the licensed technology.The deal comes at a time when Nvidia is facing stiff competition in the AI inference space from firms like Advanced Micro Devices and Broadcom, among others.
